Isabel Mclean Obituary

Isabel Claire Parsons Mclean passed away in Seattle, WA at the age of 87. She was born in Seattle on September 16, 1923 and lived there until moving to Juneau with her family. She graduated from Juneau-Douglas High. Isabel attended the University of Washington and was a member of the Delta Gamma Sorority.

She married Joseph R. Mclean on January 23, 1945 and returned to Juneau to raise 4 children. Isabel was very active in many volunteer organizations, League of Women Voters and The Hospital Guide, to name a few. She was chairman of the Board of Kin both TV and radio in the early years.

Isabel traveled throughout the world experiencing everything she could. She is survived by her husband of 66 years, daughters Alexandra (Sandi) Mclean, Heather Sweeney (husband Mike) and son Neil. She has 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren. Isabel was preceded in death by her youngest son Duncan.

She fought a brave battle after several strokes and cancer. The family was at her side as she quietly made the flight for another adventure. Isabel will be missed by all.

Isabel and I served together as chalice bearers, and I always enjoyed serving with her. She fought a long battle with poor health, but when I saw her, she always had a smile.
