Sandy,
The picture you selected for Karl's obit is a true image of himself. I will always miss seeing him either up the Taku river, at the range or at the shop. A true original. I'm honored to call him my friend.

Sandy and Karen, I am so sorry to hear about Karl's passing. In 1984 I spent the summer in Juneau/Douglas and was at your house a lot playing Trivial Pursuit with Wendell Whistler and the Bakers. You were so welcoming to me. May Karl rest in paradise until you all meet again one day in the arms of our Lord.

So sorry to hear of the passing of Karl and my condolences to his wife and descendants. I never got to meet Karl in person, but we had several enjoyable conversations going back close to 20 years when I purchased his wonderful Kodiak Custom Bullets from Alaska Bullet Works in Juneau. He was a smart, honest and hard working "old school" Alaskan. He is missed.

I enjoyed working with Karl in Bridge Design, sharing bear and moose hunting and fishing stories and using the kodiak bonded core bullets.

I was in DOT quality control in Anchorage and worked closely with Karl on many bridge projects. I really respected him. He was a brilliant engineer. He had a practical common sense approach to engineering, which was a great asset. I always enjoyed our back and forth visits. After retirement, he gave me the grand tour of the bullet factory with typical Karl enthusiasm. He was a truly a great Alaskan.

Karl was a wonderful mentor when I worked as an EIT in Bridge Design for DOT. His quick smile and humorous stories brightened our coffee breaks. He was one in a million. My sincere condolences to his family and friends.
