Barbara "Bobbie" Jeanne Clement Barton
November 23, 1944 - August 30, 2025
A native and lifelong resident of
Houma, Louisiana.
Barbara "Bobbie" Clement Barton, 80, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 30, 2025, leaving behind a legacy of love, laughter, and meaningful connection that deeply touched everyone she met.
Bobbie is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years, John W. "Jack" "Rabbit" Barton; her children, Kelly Barton Theriot (Stephen), Stephanie Barton Maxwell, and John Scott Barton; her cherished grandchildren, Henri Theriot, Adele Theriot, Tate Maxwell, Juliana Barton, Genevieve Barton, and John Avery Barton; her brothers, Richard Clement (Donna) and Keith Clement (Mary Ann); and many loving cousins, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Henry Clement and Dorothy Olivier Clement.
Bobbie was born with a heart full of joy and a spirit of fun. She had an extraordinary gift for making others feel welcome and loved. To know Bobbie was to be known and embraced with warmth and humor. She never met a stranger. Everyone she encountered became part of her world, often lovingly nicknamed with one of her many endearing terms: "Gooch," "Galosh," "Goon Toon," "Baby Cakes," "Cher," or simply, "Baby." If you had a nickname from Bobbie, you had a place in her heart.
A graduate of Terrebonne High School, Bobbie met the love of her life, Rabbit, during their college years at Nicholls State University where their love for each other would shape their lives forever. Rabbit, a proud basketball player at NSU, quickly fell in love not only with Bobbie but with her South Louisiana roots. From his first hurricane, and first crawfish boil, to countless nights dancing at the College Inn, Bobbie introduced him to a life filled with culture, family, and fun. Together, they built a home filled with love, joy, adventure, and unwavering devotion.
Bobbie was the heart of her family. Whether at large gatherings or quiet nights at home, she created a sense of togetherness that made every moment special. She was an exceptional cook-her meals, filled with flavor and love, brought everyone to the table. Her deep bond with her grandchildren was evident in everything she did. Near or far, they were always the center of her world.
Bobbie was also a proud member of her Pokeno and Bunko groups, where laughter, stories, and friendship flowed freely. She treasured her time with her friends just as deeply as she treasured family.
She had a passion for books, long phone calls, and storytelling. Her laugh could light up any room, and her stories-often hilarious and always memorable-will live on through those who loved her. Bobbie lived fully and loved fiercely, and she leaves behind a legacy of joy, connection, and unforgettable memories.
Her warmth, her humor, and her spirit will be deeply missed, but her presence will continue to be felt in the stories we tell, the laughter we share, the nicknames we call each other, and the love we pass along.
The Barton family would like to extend heartfelt gratitude to the many care teams who supported Bobbie during her health journey:
