Floyd Eschete Obituary
Floyd was a Vietnam Veteran, drafted by the US Army to the 2nd Logistical Command, 412th Transportation Co. "The Gateway to the Pacific". After his service, he began a lifelong career in the oilfield as a Mud Engineer, and eventually owned and operated Mud Control & Chemicals. He was married to the love of his life, Elaine, for 60 years. His love for fishing, and being on the water, was second to his love for his family and friends. Those that knew him will tell you that he was one of the greatest story tellers of all time. His charm, generosity, huge heart and wits, could warm the spirits of complete strangers.
He is survived by his wife; Marie Elaine Mitchell Eschete; children, Stacey L. Eschete, Amanda L. Godkin (Patrick), and Floyd J. Eschete III (Erica); grandchildren, Chase Denson (Meriden), Lexie Denson, Rylan Eschete, Reis Eschete, and Scarlett "Scooby P Dooby" Godkin; great step granddaughter Hazley Dupre; brothers, Daniel Eschete (Theresa) and Mark Eschete (Roma); and many cherished nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Floyd Sr. and Hilda Eschete; daughter, Melissa Ann Eschete; brothers, Timothy Eschete and Ernest Eschete; and sisters, Norma Durham and Susan Voisin.
A memorial visitation will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026 at Samart Funeral Home (4511 West Park Ave., Gray) from 5:00 PM until service time. A religious service will begin at 7:00 PM.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt appreciation to the doctors and staff of the Critical Care Dept. of Terrebonne General Health System for their compassionate care, especially to Titus Johnson, Kim Bourg, and Melissa Dufrene.
