Jerry D. Deroche

Jerry D. Deroche, 73, born October 7, 1952 a native of Houma, Louisiana and resident of Gray, Louisiana passed away peacefully on March 29, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and devotion to family. A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Jerry served his country with honor and dedication, carrying those values with him throughout his life. During his time in the Navy, Jerry served on the USS Plymouth Rock. After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he continued his connection to the military by joining The American Legion in Montegut.

Jerry was a devoted husband, a loving father, a cherished grandfather, and a caring brother. He believed deeply in the importance of family and spent his life providing support, guidance, and unconditional love to those closest to him. Whether through quiet moments at home or time spent together during family gatherings, Jerry's presence was a steady source of strength and comfort. Jerry will be especially remembered for his sense of humor. He had a gift for making others laugh and was always ready with a joke, even in life's most difficult moments. His ability to bring lightness to dark situations comforted those around him and reflected his resilient and compassionate spirit. He will be remembered for his integrity, his strong work ethic, and the kindness he showed to others. Jerry had a way of making people feel welcome and valued, and his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.

A visitation will be held in his honor on Thursday, April 2, 2026 at Samart Funeral Home of Houma, 4511 West Park Ave., Gray, Louisiana from 9:00 AM until the military honors at 11:00 AM with funeral service to follow. A private burial will take place at a later date in Southeast Louisiana Veterans Cemetery, Slidell, LA.

He is survived by his loving wife, Odile Pontiff Deroche; sons, Billy Deroche and James Deroche (Sonia Murphy); daughter, Linda Pinell (Troy Pinell); brothers, Kenneth Deroche and Daniel Deroche (Annette Deroche); sisters, Tina Ellender (Edward Ellender) and Mary-Ellen Naquin (Mark Naquin); grandchildren, Cody (Courtney), Shelby (Collin), Sara (Jordan), Billy Jr., Izzy, Tsade', Dradyn, and Lena; and great-grandchild, Charla.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Lera Deroche and Ruth Deroche; brother-in-law, Joseph Pontiff; and sister-in-law, Evelyn Pontiff.
