Mona Miller Wallace, age 66, passed away peacefully on Friday, September 19, 2025, in Houma, Louisiana, the city where she spent her life.
Born on October 29, 1958, in New Orleans, Mona was the beloved daughter of Audrey and Ernest Miller. She grew up surrounded by family and community, forming deep bonds that would last a lifetime. Her roots in faith, family, and friends remained strong throughout her years, shaping her into the woman so many came to know and love.
Mona was a devoted mother to two children: her late son, Jordan Wallace, and daughter, Kristen Wallace (and her fiancé, Kurt Suttle). Her role as a grandmother brought her immense joy; she cherished every moment spent with her grandchildren, Caleb, Elijah, Matthew, and Freya. Mona also shared a close relationship with her brothers, John "Ernie" Miller and Dean Miller (and his wife, JeanMarie Miller). She was a treasured aunt to many nieces and nephews and maintained lifelong friendships with Glenda, Kathy, and Ann. Family meant everything to Mona.
She held dear the memories of her late husband, Dana Wallace, with whom she shared a life marked by love and partnership. She also carried the memories of others who passed before her including her son, Jordan Michael Wallace; sister-in-law, Angel Rhodes Miller; cousin, Lee "Butch" Trahan; and in-laws, Johanna and Marvin Wallace - with grace and reverence.
A visitation will be held in her honor on Tuesday, September 30, 2025 at Samart Funeral Home of Houma, 635 Bayou Blue Rd., Houma, Louisiana from 9:00 am until the religious service at 11:00 am. The burial will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery, Houma, Louisiana.
Mona was known for her strength, loyalty, kindness, and boundless love. As a fireman's wife, she understood the meaning of dedication and resilience. She had an extraordinary gift for conversation - able to talk for hours - and found great joy in sharing stories from the past. Her passion for history was more than a hobby; it was a way for her to connect generations through memory and storytelling.
Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her - family members whose lives she shaped with care, friends who found comfort in her warmth, and anyone lucky enough to have heard one of her stories.
