Charles Dangelo Obituary


Charles J. Dangelo, 91, of Hemlock Ave. passed away peacefully Wednesday morning (June 12) at the residence of his son. Born Nov. 16, 1932 in Warren, he is the son of the late Alix and Grace (Laplena) Dangelo. On Jan. 28, 1956 in Warren he married Marjorie Allen, who preceded him in death in 1989.

Chuck was a graduate of Warren High School and also Penn State Behrend college. He served in the US Army from 1953-1955. He had worked at Struthers Wells in Warren, Elliott Company in Ridgway, G.E. in Erie and then the majority of his life as an engineer for Stackpole in Kane.

His memberships included the Toast Masters, the Kane United Way where he was a past VP, the St. Callistus PTA as both President and Secretary, the K of C. Council #715, the Kane Fish and Game Club, The Kane Lions Club where he was a past president and past district governor and received the Melvin Jones Award, the Kane Area Little League where he was on the original Board of Directors, the American Legion Post 135 in Warren, the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 109 in Warren, the Lakewood Rod and Gun Club and the Kane Country Club. He enjoyed hunting and golfing. His daily walks made him a familiar figure throughout town.

He is survived by two sons, Derek Dangelo, (Sharon White) of Kane and Mark Dangelo of Santa Barbara, CA; three daughters, Debbie Mabie of Newton NJ, Kathy Nies (Joseph) of Erie and Karen Gorski (Rick Wilczewski) of Erie; nine grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his long time partner Frances Wallace of Kane, with whom he enjoyed dancing and traveling.

In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by one brother Joseph Dangelo.

Friends are invited to attend a viewing at the Cummings Funeral Home on Friday (June 14) from 4:00-7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday (June 15) at 10:00 a.m. at St. Callistus Catholic Church, with the Rev. William O'Brien as Celebrant. Interment will be in St. Callistus Cemetery.

Memorial donations may be made to the Kane Lions Club.

Dear friends, I was so saddened to hear of Chuck's passing. I have fond memories of all of us on the south side and he truly was an icon in the community with everything he was involved in and walking so many miles everywhere he went. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers continually.
