Saverio Dangelo

Saverio "Mike" Dangelo passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 21, 2025 in Brooksville, FL. Mike was born in Manhattan in 1922, the younger of two children of Michael and Grace Dangelo; he was predeceased by his older brother, Joseph. He grew up in The Bronx where he attended James Monroe High School. He was a WWII vet and served proudly in the United States Coast Guard from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1946.

Mike returned to The Bronx, attended Fordham University, then met and married the love of his life, Evelyn Whalen, whom he wed in 1948. Mike and Evelyn moved to Carle Place, NY in 1954 where they lovingly raised their four children. Avid churchgoers, Mike and Evelyn attended mass in the then St. Brigid's Carle Place chapel, where he served as an usher for many years.

Mike was an avid golfer and spent his entire career in the insurance industry including a 41-year stint with the United States Fidelity and Guaranty Company, from which he retired in 1987. He then spent many years in the funeral industry serving in various capacities.

He is survived by his four children Michael Dangelo (Maureen), Laura Weber (the late Donald), Patti Strahan and Kathryn Baxter and 11 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
