Derek always had a smile on his face and made you feel better after spending time with him. He always greeted me with "Hello Beautiful"! I'm sure he said that to everyone, but to me it felt like a million bucks. I'm so glad I had the pleasure of knowing him and was proud to call him my "brother in law". My heart aches at this loss. You will be forever missed!

My friend, my heart is broken over this. I cannot imagine the pain your family is going through. I know you left them with so many good memories, as you were always making everyone around you smile. Derek, you were so young and I've known you as a child. You accomplished so much to be proud of. You helped your grandmother Flora consistently and was a blessing to her, she is so proud of you. You now are among-est Dan & Shane, Angels that we lost at a very young age. I know you all will be looking down on us.

Of all of the kids I had the honor to coach, outside of my own, Derek was on of my all time favorites. Something about him at a young age was just larger than life. Derek made this life a better place for so many. You will be missed. Rest In Peace.
