Dwight Wallace Obituary

Wallace, Dwight D, son of Dwight S. Wallace and Josephine A. Wallace died on February 11, 2015, at the age of 68. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda K. Wallace; sons, Matthew F. Wallace (Angela; children, Jordan and Gage), Andrew D. Wallace (Jeanne; children, Clark and Mitchell), and Benjamin P. Wallace; and siblings, Wayne W Wallace (Nancy) and Kay K Wallace. Dwight grew up in Wichita, studied at the University of Kansas, and practiced law as a partner in Martin, Pringle, Oliver, Wallace & Bauer primarily in the area of aviation product liability representing Beech Aircraft Corporation. His community involvement spanned many decades and diverse activities. As a member of the Wichita Wagonmasters, he served as chairman for the PRCA Prairie Circuit Finals Rodeo and the Wichita River Festival Bathtub Races. He was President of the Homeowners' associations of both Shadybrook Farm and Terradyne. An alumnus of Delta Chi Fraternity, he served as President of the Alumni Board of Trustees and Conservator and received both the Prugh Award and Meritorious Service Award. Dwight was a grateful twenty-eight year member of Alcoholics Anonymous, attending both the Metro and East Side groups. An avid outdoorsman, Dwight truly enjoyed hunting and fishing. In his youth, he spent time at the family's ranching business, Way-D-K Ranches, in Leon and Peabody. He passed this passion on by spending weekends with his sons at the Ranch and fishing with grandchildren at the Boy Scout Trout-O-Ree. Dwight lived his life "one day at a time," and was not a man of many words but of action and deeds. He was a devoted husband to Linda and father to his Clydesdales (Matt, Drew, and Ben). He will be missed, but never forgotten. Services for Dwight will be held at University Congregational Church, 9209 E 29th St N, Wichita, KS, 67226, at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, February 17, 2015. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to any of the following organizations: National Multiple Sclerosis Society (www.nationalmssociety.org), American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org), Alcoholics Anonymous Metropolitan Group (140 S Hydraulic St, Wichita, KS, 67211) or Alcoholics Anonymous East Side Group (11208 E Lewis St, Wichita, KS, 67207). Lovely tributes you have written about Dwight for all of us to know. His contributions were great, as is his loss. I knew Dwight at East High School, as part of our Class of 1964! Having a last name that started with a late letter of the alphabet, he was often seated directly behind me.alphabetical order! He would arrive in his cowboy boots ready to take on Honors English or whatever the subject. I enjoyed him as a friend and had been unable to attend the 50th anniversary of our Class in the celebration last October. He is one of the ones I would have sought out to visit with and see how his life had been. Thank you for filling in some of the information. I feel diminished as well by his loss. My condolences.

Dwight and I worked together (representing co-defendants) in several cases over the years, and talked each other into retiring about the same time. He was a dear man with an amazing sense of humor and great skills. I will miss him, and will pray for comfort and peace for his wonderful family.

I had the opportunity of working closely with Dwight for a couple years, after an unfortunate aircraft accident, while assigned to the Accident Investigations Group at Beech Aircraft. He was truly the consummate professional when it came to this very serious work. As stated, he indeed was a man of few words, but lots of action. I'll never forget our relationship, which I deem to have been a good one. He was a very good man and my sympathies go out to his family on their loss. May you rest in peace Dwight.
