Allin, George James, Sr. It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dad, George Allin, on Friday, November 11, 2016. His final battle with diabetes started in late-May. Following several surgeries and hospitalizations, he was tired. He passed peacefully shortly before midnight on Veteran's Day in Kansas City, the place of his birth, surrounded by family. He was 85 years young. Dad was born in Kansas City, MO, on January 4, 1931, to Margaret (DiiBon) and Joseph Allin. He was the middle of 9 children. A football stand-out at DeLaSalle High School, he went on to play on the final football team at Rockhurst College. On October 27, 1951, he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Elizabeth Elm. They celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary this year. Dad served during the Korean War in the US Navy, Alameda Naval Air Station. Dad graduated from Finlay Engineering College and worked as a Civil Engineer for the Department of Defense at McConnell Air Force Base and, later, Boeing Wichita. Together, mom and dad raised five children, welcomed 13 grandchildren and spoiled 8 great-grandchildren (soon to be 9). In addition to mom, he is survived by his 3 sons - George James Allin, Jr. "Hank," Tim and Kathy Allin, Dennis and Megan Allin; and 2 daughters - Sarah and Mike Hattrup, Deniece and Tim Stephens; 13 grandchildren - Rachel Pearson (Guy), Beth Allin, Michael Hattrup (Kalli), Matt Allin, Stephanie Warren (Phil), Griff Allin, John Hattrup (Cara), Chris Allin, Samantha Barnes (Jon), Katie Durbin (Jason), Carly Stephens, Jenny Allin, Jack Stephens; 8 great-grandchildren - Ella and Camden Pearson, William and Luke Warren, Carter, Maddox and Leo Hattrup, and Cecilia Durbin; 3 siblings - Jim Allin, Kay Wessing, and Jean Davidson (Fred). Preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Margaret Allin; siblings - Ann Hart, Joe Allin, Margaret Jakobe, Dorothy Lee, John Allin. Services will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church with the recitation of the Rosary at 6:00 P.M. on Thursday, November 17, and the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, November 18.
