Brother, it's been 19 years and Feb 20th always hits me like a freight train. You were only in my squad for a couple months during pre-mobilization and train-up, but during that time you easily earned the respect and friendship of the whole platoon. After you were assigned to the PSD, it was always great when you'd stop by the Regulator hooch to visit with us. When we found out we'd lost one of our own, it was like the platoon collapsed. I'm glad we had our brothers around us to hold onto & get through it.
You will never be forgotten.

Jessie,
Todd Waller and I just spent the afternoon talking and toasting you and Dan. I still can't believe it's been 19 years since that day you climbed into that car and drove to eternity. I still remember the last thing I ever told you as you sat on the couch watching the Daytona 500; I'll see you tomorrow. I never got to see you but please know I've seen you EVERY day since then. You are with me every day and please know you are still very much with us. I only knew you for a minute, but I've known you for these last 19 years my Brother.

Hey Brother. Farrah and I just toasted to you and Dan. I still think about him and you and everything that could have been. I can't believe it has been 18 years since that morning. I woke up this morning and then thought about the time difference and how you and the rest of the guys were standing around getting ready to go at that same time all those years ago. I still have the picture of you and the rest of the crew outside your house, probably waiting on the "agents" to show up. I remember you, Brother. You and Dan are always remembered!

Hello Jessie. I am just up the road from the Daytona 500, and I can still remember you staying up to watch the race that night. I remember telling you goodnight and that I would see you tomorrow; only for it to turn out that would be the last time I ever got to talk with you. I can't believe it's been this long that you have been gone. I still think about you!

I think about JD often - I enjoyed knowing him and having him and his friends at my home in Lakeside, California for meals, rodeos, and laundry-time while they were away from home and stationed in San Diego (my daughter Kristen Warehime and her friends befriended a great group of young men). God bless them all!

Hey Brother!
Another anniversary spent thinking of you and Dan. We went down to Arlington yesterday and visited Dan and stood around thinking of you guys. I still can't believe it's been 11 years; where has the time gone? We will spend the day talking about you and then later tonight you will be the reason we hoist our glasses and toast. You will never be forgotten!

On behalf of his mom, Linda (my sister) thank you again for remembering him. I was with Linda on the 20th and we talked about that day alot and we spoke again on the day he was buried in regard to remembering him. His loss left a definite pain in my sister's heart for the loss of her son.

To the family of Sgt. Jessie Davila, we will not forget him. On September 25, 2010, the American Legion as well as the community will come together at his parents home in Raymondville to raise the American Flag. America's Last Patrol conducted a Flag Raising Ceremony back in 2006. Their home burned down and they lost a lot of stuff to include their flag pole. We are replacing it so that our community will not forget our Fallen Hero.

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Jessie, it has taken me way to long to write. It was such an honor to work with you and thank you for all the times you kept us safe while we were out. I know God wanted the best that day and that is why you and Dan were chosen to go with him. Know you are always on my mind and I will never forget that day and all who were lost.

November 13, 2008

Even though it has been almost three years since we lost you, your memory is never forgotten. I watched your daughter smile and laugh like she used to do when you were here. Because of the kind of person you were you had made special friends and they have made it a point to make sure that the one person who you loved the most is OK. Those guys who you served with in Iraq are very special men in Sydney's life. She knows that they are daddy's friends and she knows that she is loved by them. Your daughter had the chance to see them again on Tuesday and just to see that sparkle in her eyes means the world. We all miss you.

I served with Jessie in 2-137 Infantry, and was deployed with him when we lost him. I didn't know him well, and just had a few occasions that we crossed paths. I do remember a free laugh and a good sense of humor. I thought about you yesterday, as I raised a flag in honor of those that we have lost, and our brothers and sisters that are still serving. I know I speak for everyone when I say that we honor what you did for us, and its to my deep regret that I wasn't able to get to know you better.

I went to grade school with Jesse till 6th grade. I was then put in foster care but his step mom Linda always kept in touch with me. Jesse and family became like a second family to me. When I heard the news of Jesse's death it hit me hard. I wanted to believe that they got it wrong and that it had to be someone else. There is nothing that I can say or do to take away the pain or bring you peace in your time of sorrow, but I will offer you and your family my heart felt condolences. I also offer you my prayers that in time the pain will easy and the memories of your HERO will carry you through each day and night. I want to thank your HERO, for his/her selfless act of becoming a member of the armed forces, his/her willingness to defend the United States of America, all that we hold sacred and for the sacrifice that will forever be etched in the memories of all those who knew him/her. Though tears can never bring him/her back, we hope that our tears express our gratitude for the sacrifice that he/she made and our sorrow at his/her passing. I believe for every fallen HERO there is a star shining brightly up above to remind us of the precious gift we were given.

Your mission on earth is complete and you are now a member of GOD’s Heavenly armed forces. Stand down brave warrior and take your rightful place in Heaven with all the HEROES who have passed before.

I made a special promise to LE RON A. WILSON, a dear family friend who joined the Army with three other friends, one of whom is my son (Le Ron was killed in action on 07/06/07 at the age of 18) on the day he was laid to rest as I touched his coffin, that I would never forget him nor would I forget those that gave their lives for our country before him, with him and after him and so when I came across www.legacy.com, I thought what a great way to keep my promise to Le Ron, so I will continue to leave tributes in each guest book until the day there is no longer the need to leave these tributes to a FALLEN HERO.

A year ago today i walked woke to my father telling me you were gone.. i will never forget walking down the stairs and seeing the two men in uniform standing at the door. Marcia and everyone crying as they franticly tried to call everyone. it was strange and surreal. I spent that morning with Yvette, we went to the post office and there she recieved a package from you returning the things that you didn't need. Your song played over and over in the truck as we talked, cried and laughed about memories of you that she shared with me. over the last year i have learned so much about you through Yvette, Janel and Sydney. I missed so much while I was away. You will never be forgotten, and what you have done for the Country will always be cherished. May you continue to be the guardian angel over Sydney.
God Bless You and be with your family and friends as they remember in the next few weeks

It has been a long time since we have written in this quest book for Jessie. There is not a day that goes by that your daughter does not talk about you or cry for you. You will always be her heart and soul. We miss telling you all the little goofy things that she does. On Halloween after we went trick or treating she asked if you were having fun in Heaven trick or treating. She still believes that you are now working in Heaven and you will be coming home. It has been the hardest couple of months ever for her. Oh so misses you so much and it is just not getting any easier for her. I wish you could help her with the pain in her heart. You were her everything. She has started kindergarten and I wished you were there to see your daughter. She is growing so fast and she looks more like you everyday. The holiday's are coming and your daughter has no joy in her heart because you are not here. We miss you and will always love you.

Jesse,

Miss your smile and laughter. Will never forget what you gave to this family or to our country. There does not go a day that I cannot see or hear your quiet smiles and expressions of words. We love you and will always love you. Until we meet again. Love Alan and Marcia

Jesse,

I am getting to know you through Yvette's stories and the time we spend together. I am amazed at so many things and wish i would have taken the time to have known you better before. I am keeping my promise to you and watching out for "your girls". I will take care of them, always....

I grew up with jessie in greensburg, was a year ahead of him. I dont get home much and just recently learned of Jessies death. The first thing that popped into my head was this vision of these no-look lay ups he used to do, silly grin on his face the whole time! I just want his daughter to know that your daddy always had a smile on his face, unless it was time to kick your butt in something. I had not seen Jessie in years and hope to someday meet his daughter, i have four of my own and it would be an honor to know her. I hate this war, but am so very proud of jessie and his accomplishments, I wll not allow him to be forgotten.
