Kurt Christensen Obituary

Christensen, Kurt Kasper, toolmaker, 84, beloved father and grandfather, passed away Sunday, July 10, 2011. He was born Feb. 2, 1927 in Holbaek, Denmark to Kasper and Ella Christensen. Kurt grew up working with lathes, milling machines and steel. He learned his trade as a toolmaker from his father. During his young adult years he became an accomplished amateur boxer and continued to follow the sport of boxing throughout his life. Kurt's skills as a toolmaker were extraordinary. As an apprentice toolmaker he graduated first in his class. Kurt immigrated to the United States in 1953 with $14 in his pocket and a Greyhound bus ticket to Wichita, Kan., where he achieved his Dream.He worked for Wescon Plastics in Wichita for many years, and started his own businesses, CAC Tool and CASCO Plastics. Kurt sold his businesses and moved to Florida in 1983. He will be deeply missed by his many friends and family. Kurt is survived by his daughters, Karen (Dana) Schirer and Cindy (Terry) Orvis, both of Wichita; grandchildren, Kasper (Effie) Schirer of Shanghai, China, Sam of Lawrence, Kan., Anna Schirer of Prairie Village, Kan., and Jennifer and Mark Orvis of Wichita. A private family service will be held at a later date. A memorial has been established with Botanica, the Wichita Gardens, 701 N. Amidon, Wichita, KS 67203. Farvel Far. Arrangements are by ICS Cremation and Funerals Inc., Harbour Heights, Fla.
