Dear Becker Family,
I was saddened by the news of Phil's passing. He was an institution to the Garden Plain community. He was a good example and role model to several generations. He was a good friend to our family. Over the years I have lived all over the U.S. I would make a point to hold off on a haircut as long as I could until the next visit home and have an opportunity to get one of Phil's 5:00 A.M. haircuts, catch up on the local news and get Phil's perspective on life. Phil touched many, will be greatly missed and long remembered. Thanks Phil.

Ann, Ruth and Sarah- and other family members,
I used to work in surgery with all of you years ago in Wichita. I have thought of your father often and wondered how he was doing. The love you all had for him was truely amazing. Meeting him I could see why you felt the way you did . I am sure he will be missed. Please accept my condolences and prayers for not only you, but your families.

Dear Becker Family,
Phil was an important part of our families lives growing up around Garden Plain. As with everyone, he cut my hair for every school photo, graduation events from high school and college, before my job interviews and most important, my wedding. His wedding haircut tradition was to be at the barber shop by 5:00 am...and of course, the haircut was on him. On my wedding day, I was there before 5 am and fell asleep in my car. He knocked on my car side window and scared me pretty good! He had a good laugh on me! During my haircut he gave me words of wisdom about marriage and kids. I have shared this story with many folks over the years. It was good advice I took to heart. Garden Plain will miss Phil very much. I can still hear him yelling from the bleachers! God Bless you Phil, and your family too!

Many fond memories of his shop in the late 70's and 80's as a teen. He put mousse in my hair for the first time! He was also so proud of his girls and such a GP supporter. He will be greatly missed by so many. Our thoughts are with you.

Dear JoAnn,
Our sincerest sympathy to you and your family in the loss of Phil. He has been an institution in Garden Plain since 1958. I remember the year because I left for the Marines the same year. We will never see another like him, so caring and compassionate and a strong supporter of Garden Plain. All our love and prayers, Gene & Rosemary Bestgen

Phil will be missed by many. He touched the lives of many. Phil was a wonderful friend and mentor. He helped me on the road to getting my barber license many years ago.
