Not sure what to say?

As the grass withers and flowers fade so do we.As humans we sometimes forget "the moments of impact and influence" that someone has/has had. I hope that as you journey through this hour with grief that you remember well "Rick". And may the Father of Compassion comfort each of you as needed for He well remembers and knows Rick. Rick's journey here has ended but yours continues. 'Though it seems like an end it is actually a beginning. I have prayed for each of you.

The Southeast Class of '62 has suffered a huge loss. At our class reunions, Rick always took us back to the '60s with his own special DJ presentations. We will dearly miss him, and especially this year of our 50th reunion. Condolences to Vicki and their family.

When I moved to Wichita to go to college at WSU, Rick was one of the first people that I could actually consider as a friend who took me for what I was and encouraged me to always do my best. He took a genuine interest in me and was a great encourager to me.

I remember once, when a friend of mine passed away, he saw how it affected me and took the time to listen to me and even offered me the time I needed away from work at KQAM to go to the funeral in Western Kansas. He did more than offer - he insisted.

Being a typical poor college student, I didn't even have enough money to go. Rick loaned me money out of his pocket to get there.

When I paid him back, I told him I couldn't thank him enough. He just smiled that big smile of his and said, "Glad to be able to help you out, bud".

That kindness will always be remembered and treasured.

R.I.P. Rick, you made a difference in my life.

Now Heaven's got a real DJ to keep the Sock Hops Hoppin', the Strollers Strollin', and the Twisters Twistin'.

Rick was the consummate DJ for Wichita radio. I met him back in 1996 at the Cotillion for King Midas and the Muflers. A wonderful guy who grew up with the changes from records to CDs to iTunes. I'll miss his "Cruisin' Calendar" and "Super Oldies Saturday Morning" on KEYN. Rick, thanks for the memories and we'll miss you...until we meet again.

Rick never met a stranger and always wore a smile. He was my on-air partner at KQAM nearly 30 years ago and though my career took me away from Wichita, we remained in touch over the years. To Rick's Family: I had known Rick since we were kids.He and my brother Gary played baseball for the Boeing Teams (way back) in the 50's - then Rick and I had seen each other off and on thru the years usually at high school reunions where he de-jayed. He was always the same smiling person that I remember as a kid - what a wonderful personality and what a great friend always no matter how many years passed between us. He loved his family so much - they were always first in his life - I know you all will miss him - but he will always be in your memories and heart. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers. God Bless Him - I so appreciated his friendship and laughter.

Like many others, I listened and enjoyed Rick on the radio for many years. I loved his sense of humor and his taste in the oldies. I met him on several occations, the first time was in my cab and I happened to be listening to KEYN when he got in and didn't know it was him. He got a kick out of that, and even mentioned me on the air later. He was a nice, friendly man and I'm sorry for the family's loss.

Mrs Hudspeth and family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and you family today. Some of my fondest memories as a young teen girl are those that were spent with Rick and the KEYN crew at the Pizza Inn live broadcasts back in the early 1970's. Rick always knew how to spin the platters and which ones to play to make us sing, dance, enjoy ourselves and the pizza. He will be missed by many. God bless and keep you. May his love comfort you through this difficulat time.
