I too remember Ellen (& Paul) as two of the BEST parents you could have (Except Aud & Jack of course!) I will never "forget" the stories of how they met, while running their small Motel on E. Kellogg, my mother happened by on a really hot day with baby in stroller, and Ellen came out and said she looked like "someone who needs something cold to drink!" and that was the start of a lifetime friendship. I will never forget the Lake of the Ozarks, the Campouts, Table Rock Lake, and Church of the Magdalen. My prayers are with the Slicker Family.

I just became aware of Ellen's passing. I remember Ellen as a fiesty lady who in no uncertain terms always let you know where she stood on things. Ellen and I became fishing buddies at the Fall River dock.
In a way Ellen was always an inspiration to me in two areas: Her devotion to Scott for which I now admire often in my 27 year career working with people having intellectual disabilities and fishing which has become a passion for me.
Ellen, probably not even knowing it at the time, was a model parent with Scott giving him opportunities in life that are now considered best practices in our day and age. I will always remember Ellen and know that she's sitting on the right hand of the Lord.
