Shane Gilstrap Obituary

Shane Leslie Gilstrap, born November 3, 1970, passed away on March 22, 2026, surrounded by his favorite people-his children and family. He was a beloved father, son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, and friend.

He is survived by his children: Ashton Gilstrap, 30, of Winslow, Arkansas, and her husband, Brett Chapman; Marshall Gilstrap, 21, of Wichita, Kansas; and Paxton Gilstrap, 15, of Wichita, Kansas. He is also survived by his father, Les Gilstrap, of Hot Springs, Arkansas; his mother, Carrie Lynn Gilstrap, of New Port Richey, Florida; and his brother, Brandon Gilstrap, and sister-in-law, Jessica Gilstrap, along with their children, Hutch and Palmer, all of Hot Springs, Arkansas.

Shane worked as a sheet metal worker for 30 years, taking great pride in his craft. Most recently, he worked in Omaha, Nebraska, and was a proud member of Sheet Metal Local 29 in Wichita and Local 3 while working in Omaha. He shared 23 years of marriage with his former wife, Jamie, and together they raised their family.

Shane's greatest joy came from spending time with his children. Whether cheering on Marshall at baseball games, making memories at the lake, camping with friends, attending the College World Series each year with Marshall, proudly displaying Paxton's artwork, or sharing a love of horses with Ashton, these moments meant everything to him.

Shane's love for his family never wavered. He will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his children, his strong work ethic, and the many memories he created with those he loved.

Taken far too soon, Shane will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

A celebration of Shane's life will be held on May 23 in Wichita, Kansas. Additional service details will follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly invites donations to the NBC Baseball Foundation supporting youth baseball and opportunities in the Wichita community. (https://secure.qgiv.com/for/7fnstt)

Earlier today

My heart truly goes out to all of you during this unimaginable loss. I didn´t get the chance to know him as well as I wish I had, but I will always remember his kindness and the easy, lighthearted way he carried himself-it was clear he had a special sense of humor. Since our families became connected in 2021, it was so evident how deeply he loved his children and his family. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers, and I´m holding you close in my heart during this incredibly difficult time.
