Timothy Lee Barker

Barker, Timothy Lee, age 53, of Wichita, passed away May 17, 2014. The celebration of life will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday, June 1, at the Round Barn Ranch, 9449 S. Woodlawn, Derby, Kan. Tim was born April 28, 1961, in Wichita, to James Lee and Mary Joanne (Smith) Barker. He graduated from Wichita South in 1979 and lived in Wichita and the Burden/Atlanta, Kan. area. Tim married the love of his life Debra (Shumate) Buttry on Aug. 30, 2013. He enjoyed woodworking, creating custom cabinets, building homes, gardening, Paddlefoot BBQ, and all animals. He was employed at Rick's Appliance in Wichita for 11 years, Brownlee Heating & Air for two years, Lindly's TV and Appliance in Winfield for two years, and was the electrical maintenance lead at Boeing/Spirit in Wichita for 23 years. He was a former president and member of the IBEW. Preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law, Pamala Moyer. He is survived by wife, Debra Barker; sister, Susan Barker of Claflin, Kan.; stepdaughter, Georgetta Hunter; grandchild, Vanessa Carey; mother-in-law, Donna Shumate; brother and sisters-in-law, Austin and Nancy Shumate, Gail Shumate, Wanda Woodward, Glenda Shumate, Cynthia Raborn and Justin Barrow; several aunts and cousins; friends, Rachel and James Brown; and many others.
