Betty L Allen, of Sedgwick Plaza, Wichita, KS passed away peacefully in her sleep, March 29, 2026 at 85 years young under the care of hospice and assisted living compassionate care.
She grew up in Council Grove, Kansas on her family farm and after marriage to Jack Allen, (deceased), moved to Wichita, KS and nurtured a family of three children. She worked for several years at Via Christi/St. Joseph Hospital as a medical records specialist before retirement. After her divorce and despite having MS, she enjoyed many years of square dancing and attending AAA and AA baseball games where she met her long time partner, Donald Lessley, (deceased). They enjoyed many years of traveling throughout the U.S. visiting relatives, site-seeing, attending ballgames, and going to museums. She especially enjoyed the hot air balloon festival in Albuquerque, NM, the great national parks, and attending her Council Grove high school class reunions.
She enjoyed spending time with all of her children, grandchildren, and great grand-children and relatives. She is preceded in death by father, Allen Boyce; mother, Ruby Boyce; and brother, Bill Boyce. She is survived by brother, Larry Boyce, Tulsa, OK; sons David Allen, and Steven Allen of Wichita, KS; and daughter, Pamela Allen of Newark, Ohio. She is also survived by four grandchildren (Ashley, Jack, Chris, and TJ), ten great grand-children, daughter in-law (Cindy), sister in-laws (Ann, Ella May, Kay), several nieces, nephews, cousins, and family and friends living across the U.S. Her wishes were to be cremated with no service.
