Ann Belson Obituary

Ann Eiger Belson, 93, of Overland Park, KS, passed away Wednesday, May 9, 2007, at Menorah Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 11, at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave. Entombment at the Mt. Moriah Cemetery Mausoleum. Kindly omit flowers, family suggests contributions to American Cancer Society or a charity of one's choice. Mrs. Belson was a competitive tennis player in the 1930s and was ranked in the top ten in the Midwest. She continued playing into her late 70s. During WWII, she was a secretary for an Admiral in Hawaii. Mrs. Belson was an executive assistant. She then worked in interior design before retiring in 1975. Mrs. Belson taught Mahjong at the Lenexa Community Center as a volunteer. She enjoyed playing cards, poker and bridge, square dancing and art, painting in addition to sculpture. Mrs. Belson was born in Maywood, IL, lived in Miami Beach, FL, then Key Largo, FL before moving to the Kansas City area in 1989. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Morris Belson, in 1978; brothers: Joe Eiger and Norman Eiger; sisters: Harriet Cohen, Ruth Kirschenbaum and Betty Zigman. Mrs. Belson is survived by her sons and daughter-in-law: Dr. Ian and Roni Belson, Overland Park, KS; Mark Belson, Overland Park, KS; grandchildren: Avi Belson and wife, Andrea, Skokie, IL; Ariel Belson and Leah Belson, both of Overland Park, KS, but studying in Israel; great-grandchildren: Bailah Neshamah Belson, Emunah Sarah Belson and Ozzy Meir Belson, all of Skokie, IL; and her brother-in-law: Eugene Belson, Overland Park, KS.
