Bennie,

It has been ten years since you left. I am sure you and my beloved Janice now share stories about the never to be forgotten days at SMC and CST. I will be joining you soon enough. Janice and I will relive our 65 years together. You and I will recall my efforts to open the holes and pick off a linebacker on 36 sweep. Remember you and I on the bus going to the game at Hamline University?

Eternal peace to you fellow "Redman".

Dear friend it´s been 10 year of ur passing we all miss you

Dear Pedie and Family,

Please accept my sympathy for the loss of your dear husband Bennie. The last time I saw him was in July of 2008 when he was kind enough to attend Allen's funeral. They had known each other since the "Baghdad" days and when we saw Bennie the two of them immediately had a great story to go into. Bennie was always smiling, always asked how you were and was a gentleman in every sense of the word. How lucky you were to have each other and to have made such a beautiful family together. You will all be remembered in my prayers.

I was so sorry to hear of Bennie's passing and wish to extend our heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Pedie and the family. Thanks to Ken Monaco for keeping us informed. I knew him four years at St. Mary's and always looked forward to our homecoming every 5 years. He was everyone's friend. What a great athlete...football captain, baseball outfielder and the intramural basketball trophy. We will all miss him greatly.

I knew Bennie well in the 50’s. I attended high school and graduated in 1952 at De La Salle with Bennie and after my freshman year at Rockhurst College, I transferred to St Mary’s and roomed for two years with Baldasaro, Ken Monaco and Jim Chiarlelli. We graduated in 1956. While we only had a casual friendship for the last fifty plus years since I moved to California, we always had a warm relationship when we did meet.

Baldasaro, Ken Monaco, Mike Guzaldo, Remo Termini, Frank Giannetti and Ken Delrose let me, the lone Irishman, play on the Il Pagliachi basketball team at St Mary’s 1954 St Patrick’s Day Tournament. A skinny Baldasaro and us guys won. And we beat members of the college’s varsity!

Bennie always gave you the extra yard, maximum hustle and provided the motivation to everyone. “Dog it” and you had to deal with Baldasaro. Although he was not the biggest guy on the block, he never backed down from that biggest guy.

Baldasaro had that infectious laugh. Always cheerful. Always upbeat. I never met anyone who did not like Bennie. Well, maybe not that “other” biggest guy.

Great guy. Always my friend. It has been a pleasure!

Benny was a great guy and the sports hero of our DLS clas of "52. I never had any idea his first name was "Baldasaro"-very unique!
I keep large clss picture in my dressing area and think about the guys of the class of '52 often. Most importantly, Benny had some wonderful polo shirts made for our 50th. class reunion of which I have about 5. They are labelled as the "Class of 1952 De LaSalle Military Academy". I wear them frequently and am queried about them on my trips around the U.S. and internationally, because of the wide reputation of the Christian Bros. and St. John de LaSalle their founder. In particular, in Santiago Chile I was frequently asked about DLS, since the outstanding school for young men there is DLS. In fact, most of the winery owners boys attend the school and the Chrisian Bros "international brotherhood came through with some very good samples of select wines!- thanks to Benny's polo shirts. I had hoped to share these thoughts with Benny at our 60th. class reunion in in KC next Spring but I guess this will have to wait until we (hopefully) meet in the Hereafter. RIP Benny Henry N. Wellman M.D.cass of '52 P.S. my regards to Ken Monaco another of our classmates and a pallbearer

We had the pleasure of meeting Bennie when we drove for Palmentere Bros. My cousin John Gladbach went to school with Bennie and he always inquired about John when we spoke.
Bennie was a delight to know and we are grateful to have made his acquaintance. He will be missed by everyone who knew him. Our deepest sympathy to his family.

Pedie and Boys,
My Godfather was a great man; a wonderful husband, father and godfather. He was kind, generous and an inspiration to others. He always smiled, had a kind word and offered advice to everyone. But my fondest memory of my Godfather, other than the huge Christmas Eves we used to have back when I was young, with a packed house and lots of kids, was when he would take to the stage of a wedding with the boys to belt out "That's Life!" That song exemplifies his wonderful nature and now, to a Life well lived! Hope you have a great reunion with your friends, especially Chick, and thanks for everything!
Love, Rena Kay

Pedie Jo and the entire Palmentere family, our prayers and thoughts are with each of you.

We first became acquainted with Bennie in 1952 at Saint Mary's College in Winona, MN. Gerry knew Bennie as a friend, teammate, classmate and fellow prankster in La Salle Hall. Janice came to know Bennie at the SMC & CST mixers.

During the past 55 years we eagerly awaited the next homecoming when we relived those wonderful SMC days and brought each up to date on our ever growing families.

Blessings to you all. May Bennie rest in peace. We will join him soon enough in once again harmonizing to the unending Saint Mary's fight song.

Rest in peace Ben.

My deepest heartfelt sympathy to the Palmentere family for your loss. But the loss of Bennie goes far beyond his immediate family. Our relationship begins from my early childhood. He left his mark on everyone he came in contact with. He was first class. He was my friend, employer, and when necessary my banker. But above all he was my dear friend. There is not enough space here to write all I would like to say. So I'll close by saying, I love you freind Rest in peace.
P.S. He loved the Roman Catholic Church, and would defend to with his life.

My husband knew Bennie in their youth through sports such as football and baseball, and growing up in the Northeast area. Bennie always greeted him with joy when they would meet perchance, later in life. Ken had great respect and fondness for Bennie, citing how kind Bennie was, as well as being an excellent ball player. Rest in peace, Bennie.

I was deeply saddened to learn of Bennie's death. I have essentially known him for my entire life. My earliest memory is when my parents were asked to have me stand with him as a 5 yr old kindergarten student when he graduated from Holy Rosary grade school in 1948. He always challenged (actually pushed) us to do better in sports and school. We also knew we could always count on his support. It would be hard to find a more competitive, yet friendly and congenial person in life. I will miss him but will always cherish the memories of our friendship and relationship over these many years. Sincerest condolences and best wishes to all of you during this difficult time in your lives. Sam and Judy Strada and family, Mobile, Alabama

Pedie & Sons:
Please except my deepest sympathy and prayers. Biscuit always would call Bennie his Bookend. I remember, Johnny said one time that someone got hit in the head with a baseball when they all played together and all that came out of Bennie's mouth was "It will be all right, just walk on it" those memories will never die. Bennie, was a true gentleman.....
Love you.
