CHRISTA THIERGART Obituary

Christa Thiergart, 78, Overland Park, Kan., passed away July 1, 2012. Christa was born in Berlin, Germany, to Georg and Clara Adam. She is survived by her husband, Wolfgang "Wolf" Thiergart along with her sons, Ralph and wife Barbara, and Thomas and wife Raquel; four grandchildren, Erika Todtenbier and husband Ryan, Jessica Thiergart, Joshua Thiergart, and Timothy Thiergart; one great-grandchild, Anna Todtenbier; and her sister, Elke Herrmann and husband, Hartmut. Childhood sweethearts, Christa and Wolf met in 1947 and shared a married life together for 55 years. Upon graduation from high school in Germany, Christa worked six years as a bookkeeper for a coal distributor in Berlin. The couple's honeymoon was their immigration to the United States in 1956. Christa was a loving homemaker who dedicated her life to her family and supported her husband, "Wolf" as he pursued a 38 year career as a Shawnee Mission School District educator and administrator. Christa had an adventurous spirit. She loved to travel and explore mountain and seaside destinations. Christa loved all-day hikes, picnics, and being outdoors year 'round. She was a former golfer, avid reader, enthusiastic bridge player and her passion for cooking delighted both family and friends. A celebration of Christa Thiergart's life will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 7, at Rolling Hills Presbyterian Church in the Murphy Chapel, 9300 Nall Avenue, Overland Park. A reception will follow in the Fireside Room. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the givers' preferred charities. Wolf and Family, We want to you to know how very sorry we were to hear about Christa's death. She was such a lovely person and such a wonderful friend to my Mother (Helen Molotsky) and my Dad (Leonard Molotsky). My Mother will miss her terribly, but memories of Christa will always make her smile! We want to offer you our deepest sympathy as you go through this very difficult time.
