Dearest Chris~ How I wished we could have talked and laughed together one more time. Even though we haven't seen each other for a bunch years, I knew it would be just like we saw each other yesterday. Since we were kids in Waterville (how many miles did we walk, anyhow?) you have had a special place in my heart; even now, writing this, a sad smile comes to my face just thinking of you. And now that we're offically family (your brother & my sister: can you believe they got married after all these years??), I thought for sure we would all see each other more, share some laughter, catch up on life, maybe sing a little. I looked forward to meeting your family, and introducing you to mine. But then came the phone call from my mom saying you were gone. Gone?? How I wish we could have talked one more time....

Dear Pennie & Luke,
I just finished watching the pictures of your wonderful family during happier times. These are the times I will always remember of my good friend and nephew, Christopher. What a terrific guy. Our two visits to Kansas and your visits to Colorado stand out among our fondest memories. We had such wonderful times when we were together. You are such great hosts. Visiting the museum in Hutchinson and then going to your favorite BBQ place where everyone welcomed us as your friends were special times. Our visit to Rocky Mountain National Park and lunch at Estes Park, CO when you visited were also among our fondest memories.
Especially special was when you were on your way to Maine and you stopped and met us at the Chili's restaurant in Pittsford so we could have lunch and meet Luke. I remember playing with Luke on my knees in the restaurant and looking at the love in Chris' and Pennie's faces as they watched Luke laughing. These were just SOME of the special times but really ANY time with Chris was special. His visit to Colorado when Ralph graduated from the Academy also stands out.
He was a warm, loving, caring special friend to all who had the privilege to get to know him. Annette and I were privileged to be his Godparents but more importantly we looked upon Chris and Pennie as our special "best friends".
With deepest love and fondest memories Christopher you will always be there with our son Ralph in our prayers for the two of you.
Love,
Annette & Ralph

Penny,
My deepest sympathy to you....
I can remember fondly the many times you &
Luke & Chris were at the "late shift" at the Cathedral on Sunday nights,
how Chris loved to sing.... & the obvious GRACE that you all shared.
Mgrs. Bud Fiedler & Chris are greeting one another right now again....
I shall remember Chris in my prayers as I make music for Bud's funeral tomorrow.
And, of course, you & Luke will be in my prayers as well.

Pennie & Luke
I first met Chris on the phone when he drove a Butler company car as I am the administrator of the company vehicles. He was always so nice and friendly. Later when he came to K.C. his office was next to mine for a while. He was without a doubt a very friendly person. When he talked about you and Luke you could tell he was very proud of both of you. You have my deepest sympathies and prayers to you and the Bechard family. Chris will be missed but not forgotten. He is so very happy now and who wouldn't be with our Father in Heaven. Trust in Him and He will see you through this.

Dear Pennie,
I was so saddened to see Chris's obituary in the Hutch News today. It was such a shock. Please know that you and Luke are in my thoughts and prayers.
You may not remember me as our lives crossed in Hutchinson. I was Sue Palmer at that time. I always enjoyed the times we were together either at your neighbors home or when we went out in Wichita.
You and Chris were always so kind. His friendly ways and cheerful smile will be missed by many.

Pennie & Luke, It is with great sorrow that we sign this book, but we know Chris has found peace. He had a good life & a great family. We were blessed to have known Chris and he sparked our lives that seemed to make us appreciate lots of things, that we had not paid much attention to before. We pray that his time with you will guide you both towards a blessed life that will be his legacy. Always thinking of you, we pray. Sharon & Brad

Pennie & Luke, I worked with Chris for several years at Butler. He had a great heart and was so very proud of you two - you were his most precious gifts. I lost my 17 year old son in 1992 and told him about this. A few days later he came up to me, put his arm around me and said "I said a prayer for you at Church the other day." This was one of the kindest things a person could do for me. It wasn't too long ago when Chris came to my office, he said, "Jan, stand up, I stood up and he gave me a hug." You have not lost your husband/dad, but I have lost a friend. He will be missed for all who loved him. I pray you will have the strength and faith to take you through this most difficult time of your life. Love, Jan
