Dear Doty Family:

Dan Doty is remembered by this Marine for many reasons. It is because of the care that Dan displayed when I needed help to get my application to step up to PDD in the Devil Dogs that I best remember his talents. He made sure that I had the proper paperwork and even drove two hours to meet with me in Harrisburg, PA so I could continue my quest to become a PDD. He never asked for any special favors.

I was overjoyed when I was asked by Dan and Chuck Hollon to become one of the "Three Amigos" after the death of the original "Padro." I stepped into the honored role to serve as "Padro 2" joining the two other Amigos.

I mourn the death of this active Marine, but look forward to join him so we can joke together once again. It is an honor to have been a friend to Dan Doty and my wife, Syd, extends her best wishes to the Doty Family.

Semper Fidelis, Dan Doty. You have forged a trail we can proudly claim.

Doty Family especially, Dana and Dawn,
Our prayers are with your family at this time. Remember Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa Dan by telling stories about him to others, laugh about the things he did and taught you. Make a dinner of all his favorite dishes, wear his favorite color, think of him often, sing the songs he loved. Remember him and celebrate that he has ended his journey here on earth. The angels took him to Heaven, and he is now watching over you.

Dan had an especially wonderful and sometimes unusual sense of humor no matter what life brought his way. He was an important member of our Marine Family and will be truly missed. He was always a gentleman and kind to all.
May the loving concern of friends and family, along with wonderful memories of times spent together, bring you comfort in the days to come.

To:Dan's family
So sorry for your loss and for the loss of a good friend. Dan was my son Jody's best friend and father figure, since Jody's father passed away many years ago. Jody was Dan's "adopted" son, after Dan lost his only son at an early age. I only knew Dan a short time, but he was a first class gentleman and a forever Marine, as was my late husband. We had many conversations about the Marine Corp, which I throughly enjoyed. He had a unique sense of humor which I enjoyed also and will miss forever.God bless you all and may Dan watch over us all from Heaven.
Love to you all.

Grouchy, always fussing, cantankerous and we loved it all, every minute of it, a true Marine, heart and soul. He will be as sorely missed by his fellow Marines and shooters, coast to coast, as he will be by his family and close friends. We have lost a unique personality, a one of a kind human being. My condolences and sympathy go out to this great guys' daughters, sisters, grandchildren and great grandchildren, may your memories of him forever bring you peace and joy. No words can replace a very, very special loved one but the many pleasant memories, in time will ease the pain of loss.

Dan's passing is a great loss for his family, friends, and all of the many Marines who have participated in the Dept of PA pistol and rifle matches. He was the heart and soul of the event and I hope that the MCL Dept of PA will see fit to name the pistol match in his honor as a permanent and living memorial to his steadfast dedication to a weekend of camaraderie we look forward to every year.
