Darrell Hazelrigg Obituary

Darrell Charles Hazelrigg, Sr., 72 of Kansas City, MO went graciously to His heavenly father on Thursday, September 9 in Liberty, MO. Funeral services will be 11:00 am Monday, September 13, at First Baptist Church of Raytown, 10500 E. 350 Hwy., Raytown, MO, where he was a member. Visitation will be 10:00 am prior to the services at the church. He will be laid to rest with military honors at "Jackson County Veteran's Field of Honor" in Swan Lake Memorial Park, Grain Valley, MO. Darrell was born April 26, 1938 in Jackson County, MO. He was a 1957 graduate of Odessa High School where he played football. Darrell was a graduate of Penn Valley and UMKC. He served his country honorably in the US Marine Corps and retired from GM Leeds Plant in 1991. Darrell was a devoted husband and family man who loved to sing in the church choir and participate in the church Christmas pagent. He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia; parents, Herbert and Josephine Hazelrigg; sisters, Joann Hazelrigg and Rosemary Brookens; brother, Raymond Hazelrigg. Survivors include daughters, Jackie Sullivan and Rosa Taylor and her husband, David both of Trenton, MO; sons, Larry Hazelrigg and his wife, Lisa of Kearney, MO and Darrell Hazelrigg, Jr. of Independence, MO; grandchildren, Megan and Lauren Hazelrigg, Crystal, Amanda, Jason and Anna Sullivan, Laura, Sarah, Rachel and Nikki Taylor; brothers, Herb and his wife, Barbara of Independence, MO, Stanley Hazelrigg of Sedalia, MO, Milton Hazelrigg and his wife, Evelyn of Mountain Grove, MO, Alan Hazelrigg and his wife, Elizabeth of Cole Camp, MO, John Hazelrigg and his wife, Debbie of Lee's Summit, MO, Roland Hazelrigg of Kansas City, MO, Terry Hazelrigg and his wife, Patty of Blue Springs, MO and Duane Hazelrigg of Independence, MO; numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members along with friend and first wife, Barbara Hazelrigg also survive him. Memorial donations may be made the the First Baptist Church of Raytown. Arrangements: Chapel of Memories Funeral Home 816- 463-4030

Darrel was and is a true friend I will miss him greatly and look forward to seeing him in glory
He loved to sing the glory of God and I am sure he is singing the praises to his Lord.
