David Canning Obituary
December 8, 1935 - December 1, 2020
Independence, MO - David Lester Canning was born on Dec. 8, 1935, in Duncan, BC, Canada, and died on Dec. 1, 2020, in Independence, MO. He follows his wife, Mildred E. (Carter) Canning (1936-2013), and is survived by four sons, three daughters-in-law, four grandchildren, and numerous extended family and friends.
Lester was an alumnus of Graceland College (A.A. 1956), the University of Kansas Lawrence (B.A., 1958), and the University of British Columbia (M.S.W., 1969). He helped Dr. and Mrs. John Blumenschein establish La Buena Fe Clinic in rural Honduras from 1958-60, which is still providing internship opportunities for KU medical students.
Lester will be memorialized at Walnut Gardens Community of Christ in Independence on June 24, 2023, at 2:00 PM. Donations are welcome in memorium to Outreach International: [email protected]
