EDWARD "ED" THOMAS SHINE JR. Edward "Ed" Thomas Shine, Jr., 90, died June 2, 2016, at St. Luke's Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial at 1 p.m. Mon., June 13, at Redemptorist Fathers' Church, 3333 Broadway, Kansas City, Mo., where friends may call from noon to 1 p.m. followed by commitment of ashes in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Ed, the son of Edward T. Shine and Ellen M. O'Brien, was born Sept. 23, 1925, in Kansas City and received a B.S. Degree in Accounting from the University of Kansas in 1949, after serving in Europe for three years in the Army during World War II. Ed married Mary Catherine O'Donnell on June 21, 1952, and together they raised a son and five daughters, enjoying a blissful 64 years of marriage. He was predeceased by his parents, sister, Aileen Elizabeth Shine, two infant siblings, and grandson, Michael J. Reid. Ed is survived by his wife, Mary Catherine Shine, sister-in-law, Joan E. O'Donnell, children, Cathleen A. Shine (John C. Reid); Maureen T.; Mary M. "Maggie"; and Edmund T. "Ned" Shine; Patricia "Patti" S. DeWalt; and Bridget J. Gallaway (Scott); seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, niece, Patty O'Donnell Jurado (Ed), and grand-niece.
