I only recently learned of Dr. Cibis passing, my condolences to his family and loved ones.

I was a patient of his when I was a child and he performed several eye surgeries on me over the years.

He was a good man and doctor and I still have fond and vivid memories of my visits to the eye doctor after probably 30+ years gone by.

My eyes are still straight from the work he did and that has had a significant impact through my life to this very day.

I had the pleasure of knowing Dr. Cibis and recovering his patients at Saint Luke's Hospital of Kansas City. He was also the surgeon for my granddaughter for an eye condition. She was 18 months at the time of her surgery and will soon be 10 years old. I made sure she knew who Dr. Cibis was and will share this obituary with her as well. Dr. Cibis has taken care of many patients who I am sure have appreciated his services. He will be missed by many!Condolences to his family.

I am truly saddened at his loss, he has been my doctor since 1982, and has shown me great comfort, and compassion. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

October 21, 2019

Dr. Cibis has been our sons doctor for almost 16 years. We are blessed to have had him in our lives and appreciate his expertise and talent. Our sons (and family) will miss his consistent skill and peace of mind that came with his talent. The boys will also miss the stories of his swim days that he shared with them during their office visits. He always made a point to ask them how things were going with school and this sport that he too once practiced as a teenager. Our condolences to the entire family. We will miss you greatly Dr. Cibis, rest in peace.

We just received a letter about Dr Cibis's passing. We were greatly saddened by this news. Dr Cibis performed eye surgery on my son when he was in kindergarten. The surgery was very successful and we received excellent follow up care from Dr Cibis for many years after the surgery. My son is a senior in high school and will soon graduate. His vision remains perfect. We will forever be grateful to Dr Cibis. Our hearts go out to his family and staff who were also very kind to us. We will miss seeing Dr Cibis at my son's yearly follow ups.Tammie and Tanner Heuser

I was very sorry to hear of the passing of Dr. Cibis. He diagnosed a rare eye condition in our 9 month old son, that I also found out I had only to a lesser degree when he examined my eyes. Our son had cornea transplants, and is now 27 years old and leads a normal life. Dr. Cibis continued to see both of us, and guided me through my own cornea transplant 9 years ago. He was an exceptional Doctor as well as a kind man, and I will greatly miss our chats during my yearly check ups. I consider myself very lucky to have known him.

To the Family, we are so sorry for your loss! I have no doubt that if it weren't for this talented Doctor, my daughter would not be able to see! Born 17 weeks early Dr. Cibis saw our daughter before we knew he was a Dr. that she needed to see, after several surgeries on her eye's she is able to see. With out his expertise and knowledge that would not be the case. Our daughter was born in 1992. He truly was a gifted man. Our hearts are very heavy for your loss! We will keep your family in our prayers!

This deeply saddens me to hear of such a huge loss to our community. Dr. Cibis performed surgery on my eyes when I was 18 months old in 1986 and again at 32 years old in 2016. I cannot begin to tell you how forever grateful I am for his skills. His work has helped me age with confidence without crossed eyes and corrected my vision to the point I no longer require glasses. My deepest sympathy to Dorene and his children. And thank you so very much Dr. Cibis.

Dr. Cibis performed surgery on our daughter's eye lid when she was just 14 months old. Without the delicate and precise procedure, she would have lost sight in her eye and would have barely been able to open it. He touched our lives in such a profound way since Maddie was 2 weeks old and we were new parents. She still was a patient of his. I get very emotional thinking about how glad I am that she has been able to live a life with perfect vision thanks to him. Our sympathies go out to his family and to the community he served so well. We are so sorry for the loss. Sincerely, Katie, Greg and Madelyn Culotta

My recollection is that he graduated from Washington University in three years and was a Phi Beta Kappa. After graduation he studied art history in Heidelberg, Germany before going to medical school.
