JAKE SCHMITZ Obituary

Jake Schmitz, 67, Overland Park, Kan., passed away at home Sunday, July 22, 2012, surrounded by family. Private funeral services will be held at Johnson County Cemetery. Jake was never at a loss for words and he could always bring a smile to the faces of those around him. After a career as a Food Service Director with Marriott following years as an Executive Chef at hotels, resorts and The Kansas City Club, he found the most enjoyment in his life when listening to classic rock music (especially the Rolling Stones), stamp collecting, keeping in touch with family and friends, and the company of his dachshund. Jake is survived by his wife of 14 years, Bridgett; his two children, Sigurd and Bettina Christie; his three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Alexandria and Arabella; his brother, Mike Schmitz, nephews, Goetz Schmitz and Mark Wilkinson, their families, and many dear friends. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to Wayside Waifs, 3901 Martha Truman Road, Kansas City, MO 64137.
