we just learned of Jim's Passing. Always looked forward to visiting with him at any art fair he attended and own/display many pieces of his paintings both at home and work. I had always hoped to take one of his classes at the church but just never got there. We will miss him, his wit, skills with a paint brush and use of vibrant colors to bring landscapes to life.

I didn't get a chance to tell you at the reception, I sent a copy of Jim's obituary to the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity national headquarters so that his old friends will know of his death. Nice to meet all three of you but sorry it was under these circumstances. Take Care. Sue Loudon

I first met Jim 35 years ago when I took his watercolor class at Penn Valley. I remember him saying you have to do about 100 watercolor paintings before you start being happy with them. I'd always visit with him at the art fairs. I will certainly miss Jim, especially his humor and laugh.

I was truly saddened to learn about Jim Ryon's death. We were friends for many years and both had careers in the Kansas City MO schools. I took watercolor classes from Jim and periodically contributed to his poker causes. I will always be grateful for his help and friendship. Millie and I extend our deepest sympathy to his family and loved ones. Sincerely, Frank and Millie Armato

I was blessed to work with Jim on many projects. I first worked with Jim as an art & craft supervisor for the Park Dept. Later, I hired him to teach a variety of classes at Penn Valley Community College. He was an outstanding artist and teacher who could communicate on any level and had a great sense of humor.

We will all miss Jim. He was such a great Artist, and a friend to all.
I enjoyed and received many benefits of Jim's artistic talent for the past 7 years of being in his Gladstone Painting Class. Jim's Art Class was always fun and a happy event! As a Mizzou Grad, Jim's fun stories of his College days brought back memories of my years as a Mizzou Tiger! So, with Jim's artistic eye instruction, I completed a painting of a tiger, and titled it "Mr. Mizzou"!
I will have a great lasting memory of Jim's friendship and wonderful Artistic Talent, Elaine Silvius

I was a student of Mr. Ryon's at East High School between the years of 1965 thru 1969. Art was one of my favorite classes and the teachers made it so rewarding. He was one of my favorites and I am so sorry to hear of his passing. I am sure he will be painting the walls of heaven.

I remember Jim for his wonderful way of working
with art students and his contribution to the Kansas
City art community. Helping start the Westport Art Show
and all his beautiful art work over the years. My wife Karin
worked with his brother Bud at Armco Steel for years.
He will be missed by all that he touched their lives.
Rest In Peace Jim Ryon

I was part of Jim's Wednesday morning class and learned so much from him. His dry humor was so much fun, and it was so amazing what he could do with that one wide brush!! He made watercolor painting look so easy, and could always add that little touch to my struggles with the paints to "fix" it so it was looking good. My sympathy to his caring family, thoughts and prayers are with you as you go through this part of life's journey. Your dad was a unique guy, I enjoyed his classes a lot and will miss him. Maybe he can do some of his great painting with the angels. Karen Conley (Lee's Summit, Mo)

I love and enjoyed Jim so very much. His laughter and smile brightened any room I shared with him. There are no words to express the sorrow in my heart and the loss you have in yours. God rest his soul and hold him in His loving arms. God Bless the Ryon family and and give you all peace in your time of grief. I have learned through loss, the ones that go before you will never be very far away. Hold him close your hearts, I will hold him in mine. Sincerely Eileen Burns
