Janis Ann Hartung Pilcher, 60, died Sunday, November 24, 2013. Born to the late Walter Hartung and Dorothy Arens Hartung on Oct. 24, 1953, in Kansas City, Mo., Janis attended St. Joseph's Catholic Grade School and High School of Shawnee, Kan., and Emporia State University of Emporia, Kan., where she graduated with a BSE in Music. Janis was a piano teacher, an accompanist, an organist, and a director of adult and children choirs at several churches. Her loving spirit and creativity, along with her passion for faith, music, friendships, and family, will forever be remembered by all those fortunate to have been touched by her. Janis is survived by her daughters, Paula Pilcher, 36, Naturopathic Doctor of Portland, Ore., and Laura Pilcher, 34, MBA Business Owner of Merriam, Kan.; brother, Darryl (Ruth) Hartung of Marshall, Mo., brother, Dale (Deedra) Hartung of Ballwin Mo., sister, Sharon (Don) Anderson of Newark, Ill., sister, Marsha (Charles) Golladay of Lenexa, Kan. She also leaves behind numerous loving relatives and friends. Visitation is 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 13, starting with the Rosary, at Amos Family Funeral Home & Crematory. The funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church. The burial will follow at the Resurrection Cemetery. Please send flowers to Amos Funeral Home.
