JEAN TENNYSON Obituary

Jean E. Tennyson, 96, of Leawood, Kansas, entered into rest on Friday, January 20, 2017, due to complications from a stroke. Jean was born May 3, 1920, in Augusta, Kansas, to Howard and Flora Russell Nelson. She grew up in the Wichita area and graduated from Wichita High School East in 1938. Subsequently, she attended Wichita State University. Jean married Herbert G. Tennyson, an Army Air Force fighter pilot, on May 17, 1943, in Gadsden, Arizona. Jean worked for AT&T from 1951 until her retirement in 1985 where she made lifelong friends. Jean worked as a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and did many other works of help. She was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church. Jean was preceded in death by her husband (1944), her parents, a sister Sydney Steele, a brother Dr Russell (Jiggs) Nelson, and a daughter Pamela Middleton. Jean is survived by a grandson Scott Jefferson and great- grandsons Ryder and Gabriel, all of New Zealand.
