Pleas accept my heartfelt sympathy to the Gabler family.

I played against John in the KC Overhand fast pitch softball tournaments back in the 1970's when my team finished runner up a couple of times to John's team known as Pokey's, Langford Collins, etc (all known as the Old timers.) He was the toughest out there was on those teams...pulling the ball sharply a few feet inside the first base line. A great 1st baseman as well. Also, a true sportsman. I admired his abilities and persona on the field and off.

I can still remember John throwing those big curve balls on the playground at Overland Park Grade School when we were young. He was a great person. My sincere sympathy to the family.
