Many of us who had Coach Grantham as one of our mentors in high school sports didn't realize his coaching was not just about sports but also about life lessons. He wanted us to be the best we could be in sports and it helped many of us to achieve our goals in the workplace. One of our great nieces had Mr. Grantham as a teacher at St. Theresa's HS and she thought he was one of the best teachers she had while there.
Thank you coach.......

He was very willing to whack you with the meter stick he carried in geometry class.

Mr. Grantham was a great man and teacher. He was a servant of the Lord. He taught all of us with zeal. He showed us how to always do good in any thing we do; plus I love the movies he would pick for us to watch in school. That was the best part of our day in school! May God bless you for a life well
lived. Rest in peace. May his family find strength in his memory.

Had Joe as a teacher at Rockhurst College for a PE class (Kinesiology). He was a great teacher, but most of all he was a Great Person.

When I came to De La Salle as a probationary freshman in January of 1968, Coach Grantham was the first teacher I met. I immediately learned to not talk in his homeroom, where he drew a circle on the blackboard, "invited" me to rest my nose in that circle and hold out my arms and hands sideways so he could place a dictionary in each one of my hands... and stand there until I learned to be quiet. Coach Grantham was a great teacher and coach, always fair - a great man. He probably never forgot those 2 points I contributed to the varsity basketball team in 1970!
