Joyce Holter Obituary

Joyce Myrtle Holter, 65, Kansas City, MO, was welcomed home by her Heavenly Father on Monday, February 14, 2005, at Delmar Gardens of Lenexa, KS. She was born on July 18, 1939, to Amzie and Pearl Mackes in Allentown, PA. She graduated from Governor Miffin High School in Shillington, PA, and moved to Kansas City in 1962. She was a loving mother and grandmother, always willing to lend a hand to a friend, family, or stranger-she always gave from her heart! She was a cleaning lady and nanny for many loving families over the years. Joyce was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, National Rifle Association, Docent at the Alexander Majors Museum, member of the Republican Campaign Committee, and avid Rush Limbaugh fan. She is survived by her mother Pearl Mackes; daughter Cynthia Sims and husband Andy Sims; two sons, Dan Holter and wife Mary Holter, and Dean Holter; three grandchildren, Danielle and Samantha Holter and Tyler Sims. Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Monday, February 21 at Heartland Church, 8301 Lamar. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Shepherd Center of Waldo, Hospice of Kansas, Angel Flight, and the Heartland Church. (Arr. The Amos Family Chapel of Shawnee, 913-6315566)

Cindy, Andy and Tyler - You and your family are in our prayers during this sad time. Every time I saw Joyce, she was never without a smile on her face and always had a kind word to express. I am sure she was proud of her family, as you embody her kindness and giving spirit. Her legacy lives within her children and grandchildren; God will continue to bless the family with her memories. We love you!

Danny, Dean & Cindy -

I am so sorry to hear about your mom. She was absolutely one of the easiest people to be around and loving her family (and the cats too) created some of the best memories of our childhood together. I've known you guys since BEFORE grade school and even grew up to help Joyce with her difficult yard work. She was always happy to see me and glad to welcome me to her house anytime. My parents (Tom & Regina) were also very fond of Joyce and want to pass on their deepest sympathy to your family.

See you soon and please take care.

Love, Tom

Please accept my sympathy for the loss of your Mother. I have known her since she came to the Kansas City area. She was a good friend to our family. SHe always appeared to be in a cheerful mood. I pray she has eternal peace.

I used to occasionally babysit Danny, Dean and Cynthia when you were real young.
