Louis Haefele Obituary

Louis W. "Louie" Haefele, 78 of Raymore, MO, passed away Sunday, September 15, 2002, at Golden Years in Harrisonville, MO. Funeral Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday, September 19, 2002, at St. Sabina Catholic Church, 700 Trevis, Belton, MO, with burial in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Mt. Moriah and Freeman Funeral Home, I-435 and Holmes Road, with the Rosary being said at 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the International Tremor Foundation, 7046 W. 105th, Overland Park, KS 66212. Mr. Haefele was born on November 30, 1923, in Seneca, KS, to Louis August and Ella Marie (Hurley) Haefele. He farmed in the Seneca area for a number of years before moving to Kansas City in 1956. He then started the Burger Haefele Nursery which he operated until his retirement in 1983. He was a member of St. Sabina Catholic Church, 50-year member of the Knights of Columbus and Founding member of the South Suburban Junior Athletic Association, SSJAA. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mary Lou Haefele of Raymore, MO; sons, Robert Haefele of Raymore, MO, Gerald Haefele and wife, Pamela of Lake Winnebago, MO, David Haefele and wife, Janice of Belton, MO, Charles Haefele and wife, Debra of Hickman, NE; daughters, Debra Opfer of Lee's Summit, MO and Susan Weeda and husband, Rick of Lee's Summit, MO; brother, Leonard Haefele, of Olathe, KS; sisters, Helen Schmelzle of Seneca, KS, Mary Beatty of Shawnee, KS, Rosie Solar, Shawnee, KS, and Betty Haefele of Overland Park, KS; grandchildren, Aaron, Brian, Scott, Trenton, Dustin, Jamie, Rachael, Matthew and Steven Haefele, Eric, Amy and Kevin Opfer and Lisa and Jamie Weeda (Arrangements: Mt. Moriah and Freeman 816-942-2004)
