MARTHA FLINT Obituary

Martha (Manovill) Flint, born in St Louis, MO passed away September 1, 2014 after a tenacious battle with Parkinson disease. Martha trained at the K.C. Art Institute and then pursued her passion designing greeting cards for Hallmark Cards, Inc. where she met her husband Dick Flint. Her talent continued through freelance work which included designing the logo for Cosmopolitan Magazine in the late 1960's. Moving to Texas, she shared her art and was instrumental in founding the Hidalgo Watercolor Society. She also served numerous local organizations such as Community Concert, McAllen International Museum and Book Lovers Club. Martha is preceded in death by her husband Dick Flint and her sister Susan Latimer. She is survived by her daughters Cathy Whorton, of Kansas City (Duane Whorton), Karen (Gerald) Simpson of McAllen, and her grandchildren Paul & Chase Whorton and Aubrey & Travis Simpson. Martha's family is forever grateful to Dr. Tommy Yee, her caring providers Oralia and Hilda, The Bridges of Edinburg and Gracia Hospice. Martha's talent and memory will live on through the artistry she has left behind. A celebration of her life and talents will be held at Upper Valley Art League (inside the Kika de la Garza Bldg.) 921 E. 12th Street, Mission, TX on Saturday, September 6, 2014 between 10:00 am & 12:00pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Parkinson Foundation, Parkinson.org or 800- 473-4636.
