I'm so sorry to hear of his passing. My husband was one of his patients 30 years ago. He operated on him in Giessen, Germany. Today we would have liked to have his help.
My husband always speaks of him with the greatest respect

I am so very sorry for your loss. My daughter was a patient of Dr. O' Laughlin at Duke 23 years ago. He saved my child's life and continued to advise us until you left Kansas City. We actually meet in Kansas City about eight years ago where you took us out for lunch. I just found out about Dr. O'Laughlin's passing and I wanted to reach out. He was our hero and one of the most thoughtful people I ever met. He will always have our gratitude. Please know your family is in our thoughts and prayers. We are all blessed for having had him in our lives!

50+ years later, that smile, charisma, kind heartedness and prodigy of academia so bestow the greatness, compassion & humility of my former 1960-69 St. Peters Grade School classmate(SPS)KCMO...."Marty O". So sorry to read of Martin's passing, but OHHH...look at how much better off the world is for his time on this earth. The true measure of any mortal being's benefit to all. God Bless you good friend.

The dedication to his patients was unmatched. I remember standing at many a bedside while Dr. O'Laughlin patiently explained what he was looking at and drew diagrams to explain it in more detail. He will be missed; he was one of a kind.

I am saddened and sorry for your loss of Dr. O'Laughlin. I remember how he was as so willing to teach us, the NICU Nurses who cared for many of his patients.

Marty was a man for others! He was a classmate of mine at Rockhurst. May God grant him peace and let perpetual light shine upon him.

Marty was a crucial component of my Rockhurst education. He and I had many classes together; without him I would not have comprehended Latin. I'd even call him at night for help with Latin homework. Ever the teacher he would make me work at it by giving his answers in Latin!
I never saw Marty again after graduation, but I was aware he was performing brilliantly. I have been forever grateful for those four years at The Rock with him. Marty lived this: Veni, vidi, vici.
