Dear Erin and Jean: Mary was one of my favorite students and the best stage manager a director could have. She was also a dear friend. We will truly miss her and her sense of humor that made us laugh. Unfortunately, negativity becomes habitual for many of us. However, this was not the case with Mary. She laughed instead of complained. She chose to see the bright side of life. Her bright side will be sorely missed! In fondest memories, Carl and Dr. Roma Drevets-Martin

We just heard the sad news about Mary. Mary helped me with our Myeloma support group a few yrs ago. She was another myeloma warrior in this terrible battle. She and her surviving family will be in our prayers.

My heart broke when I saw the news of Mary's death in the KC Star. We were locker partners all through jr high and high school, because we were in alphabetical order in both places. We shared homeroom, and sat together at graduation from North. Thank goodness we were also lab partners in chemistry class....Mary knew even then that she wanted to be a pharmacist and she wasn't afraid to mix all that stuff together like I was! I think I would have flunked without her! We were both in Thespians; I remember painting a banner on her parents' kitchen floor. She looked me up 6 years ago to let me know about reunion, and it was such a delight to see her again. The same bright, funny, caring Mary I had always known. The world has lost a ray of sunshine......

I had the privilege of working with Mary at La Clinica several years ago. I talked with her about her nursing studies which she undertook to serve the disadvantaged in third world countries.
She was a bright, gracious and generous person who I greatly admired.
My condolences to her family and friends.

Erin and family, Rob and I want to express our deepest sympathy. We only met once, sadly, at your brother Jimmy's funeral, yet I felt you were much like your Mom. Your Mother was my selfless Angel in one of my darkest moments. She took me under her wing when Rob was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma in November 2011 and lovingly spoke and guided us thru our first stem cell transplantation. She visited us in the hospital and we became friends. I truly don't know how I would have made it without her guidance and words of encouragement. We stayed in touch, we visited her during her second S.C.T. and I have her last E-mail when she told me she was going to move to Pennsylvania to be closer to you. Mary and I shared some time just laughing and some crying. I know that I am a better person for having known your Mother. Thank you God for placing her in our lives. She will be sorely missed. Sincerely, Robert and Jodi Stacey

Mary was extremely brave and positive throughout her illness. I have never known someone who could still laugh and make light of such a serious condition, and always with the attitude of: "well, now we're going to try this." She did not allow herself to get down for too long. And she did not complain. Amazing strength. I'm so sorry that, in the end, she wasn't stronger than her illness, but what a fight she gave.
Mary, you will be missed. My heartfelt condolences to her family and friends. J. Rowe

This is truly sad news. Mary and I went to work at Marion Laboratories the same day in 1974. We were lab partners. Marion was Mary's first job after Pharmacy School. I miss her even though we lost track of each other many years ago.
