Matthew Langley Obituary

Matthew (Matt) Alan Langley passed away July 26, 2004, in Kansas City, MO. He would have been age 39 on July 30. He was born in Kansas City, MO to Nancy J. Langley and Henry D.F. Langley. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. Sunday, August 1, 2004, at Sheil Colonial Funeral Home. Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Brooking Cemetery. For directions, please call the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to Cole and Jessica Langley, in c/o Rhonda Langley. Matt, his brother John and their mother moved to Johnson County in 1970 where he attended Don Bonjour Elementary, Trailridge Junior High and Shawnee Mission High School. During those years he played basketball, soccer and football. Matt enjoyed the love and support of family, extended family and friends. . .especially kids because he enjoyed being a kid himself. Known as "Uncle Mutt" to some, he involved his children in activities that he participated in, which included rock climbing, camping, hunting, fishing, golf, painting and drawing, and music. Most recently he helped coach his son's T-Ball team. He owned Spotless Windows, a commercial window cleaning company and had worked on many of the well known tall buildings downtown Kansas City. Most recently he worked for Operators Union #101 using skills he learned at Langley Recycling which was established by his grandparents, Henry L. and Cleta May Langley in 1931. He loved working with his hands and put many skills to use in the remodeling of his home and in helping others with their projects. Of particular note were the many hats he wore in providing upkeep on his mother's home where they often worked side by side. Matt's beloved grandfather, Henry L. and grandmother, Cleta May Langley preceded him in death. Matt is survived by the love of his life for the last 16 years, Rhonda Langley; his daughter, Jessica and his son, Cole; his brother, John and nephew, Michael and niece, Monica; half sister, Michaelle and nephews, Jason and wife, Regina, Jonny Emery, Jimmy Emery, Damon Flippin; his mother, Nancy; his father, Henry and stepmother, Rosie; his uncle, Don McBride and wife, Beverly; aunt, Phyllis McBride; cousins, Patti, Penny, Libby, Chris, John, Luke and Raphael McBride. You will always be remembered for your big heart! (Arrangements: Sheil Colonial Funeral Home (816) 353-6555)
