Dear Kathy,
I am a RN that works with Dr Diana Dark at the clinic at St. Luke's. You told me years ago, after finding out that I lived in Olathe, that if your son ever stopped me for something while I was driving; tell me that I took care of his mom, Kathy, and for him to treat me accordingly. I was thinking about that a couple of weeks ago and then heard the devastating news. Kathy, I am so very sorry for you and your family--what a loss. Words are inadequate to express my sympathy. Please know you all are in my thoughts and prayers. May he rest in heavenly peace.

We always try to search for the right words at a time like this, but the truth is, there are none. Nothing can reach to the depths of the profound pain in ones heart when you've lost someone you love so dearly. I pray that you draw from your strength, your love, and your faith to bring you through this. God bless the family and everyone who knew and loved Mike.
With deep compassion,
Sandy Leach, the mother of Ofc. Justin Leach

It is so sad to lose one of our community's fine servants. Did not know this gentleman but he was a part of our Olathe family and obviously a dedicated and loyal servant. How impressive his credentials are! May God's love carry this family as they grieve and may your fond memories sustain you in the days ahead. Peace be with you.

True Blue through and through. Mike was the true definition of what police and law enforcement stands for and is defined as. He will be greatly missed by all. His cheer and smile was always there and although his shift has ended here on earth it continues in heaven above us all as he watches over his family and friends and all the other lives he touched. RIP my friend you will always be close to our hearts and in our thoughts and prayers.

I'm trying so hard to comprehend this!! As a Christian, I'm trying to focus on the blessings of this tragedy: He wasn't on his bike in traffic, he wasn't in his car driving his family, he wasn't at the hands of some lunatic while performing the job he so dearly loved, and he is finally in the arms of Jesus where no further harm can come to him. But as his aunt, there ARE no blessings. My life will never be the same, my heart will never be mended, but my memories will never fade. I pray for our family that one day we will find peace. Michael, you were always the light of my life and that light will never fade.

We will miss his smile and enery, he was always on move. The smell of ribs on the smoker told us he was around and it was going to be a good weekend. We will love him forever. Tony & Rose Ewen.
