Knowing Paula for over 5 decades as our Jenkins-clan got together was such a blessing. In 1998, Paula enhanced my adjustments to Kansas City from Seattle in her own special way of celebrating so many positive things about the community. My young children's visits to Kansas City were always highlighted with their times spent with Paula. Family reunions in Colorado would not have been complete without her cheer and balance in conversation. Her world-traveled insight into cultures, conflicts, history, and cuisines was quite fascinating for me.
RegretfuIly, I could not out-give Paula for her many ways of sending cards, calling, and offering insight.
Only earlier this year, I was thinking that Paula would probably out-live me by 40 years. And yet now, I am reminded that life is so short.

Paula was the lynch pin of our 23 year old book club. Month after month we met and discussed books. We were doing more than that and didn't realize it. We were casting movies from the books we read, planning holiday events, sharing how we felt. We are all stunned and at a loss to express what Paula truly meant to us. She was the center for all of us. We weep. We are sad for your loss

Dear Jenkins family, Such sad news of a wonderful life. Paula was a dear friend to my sister, Joan, and part of the tapestry of our lives. Remembering camping trips out West with Susan in Steamboat Spring and Glacier National Park....She will be missed.

Paula was not just a beloved cousin; she was an amazing family networker and nexus who was always thinking of others. I will deeply miss her breezy cheerfulness, thoughtfulness, and perennial graciousness.

Oh, what a sad note this is to write. Every Christmas and birthday for the last 50 years has been highlighted by receiving one of Paula's beautiful, often hand-made cards. Though we went to different grade schools before Southwest High, we got together often because our dads were friends. I remember countless movies, stalking the Beatles, and so much silly laughter. Paula was one of the smartest, funniest people I ever met. I can't imagine the world without her. My mother Ann joins me in sending Mr. Jenkins, Susan, and the entire family our heartfelt sympathies and love. She will remain with us forever.

Dear Jenkins family - heartfelt condolences. Paula was such a presence at the KC librarys Literature in Translation book group. She had taken on the role of organizing the group in the past few years - letting us know when it was time to choose the next few months worth of books, setting up e-mail reminders about meeting dates, coming to the meetings with prepared background information, and sharing stories about her travels to many of the countries in which the novels we read were set. The members of the book group met the day before she died on our scheduled fourth Thursday of the month meeting date, hugging one another as we entered the meeting room. For bibliophiles, we were rather at a loss for words. We will miss her passionate, generous, inquisitive spirit.

Oh my dear sweet Paula. I cannot believe that you are gone from us. There are so many things, that I took for granted, that you gave. Yours was always the first Christmas card, with your unique penmanship, it was the smallest card I would receive, but always one of my favorites. Very classy and it would signal to me..Oh Christmas season is here,I got Paula's card. You would always organize our "old friends" lunches. Our last one last Fall at the Plaza 111. My last memory of you was walking with Jeannie at the Plaza on a beautiful fall day..chatting and laughing..your laugh was magic. I'll miss you dear friend,Thank you for your most gentle nature. Loving you, Dianne

I worked with Paula at Clark Printing in the early 70s. A friendship quickly developed. She taught me how to needlepoint, and we shared an interest in theater and art. We lost touch but I have fond memories of her. My prayers go out to the family for she will be missed.

Four of us from the book club Paula led for over 20 years met this evening, and our first and last words were about Paula. What we all agreed was that Paula lived life on her own terms, and she had adventures most of us wish we could have shared.

Paula was a true Renaissance woman - reader, cinephile, world traveler, friend to so many. From "Les Miz" to adventures at the True/False Film Festival, countless indie film viewings, and deep conversations about books worth reading, we had 39 years of friendship. A photo of her in jodhpurs and pith helmet standing on a sand dune next to a kneeling camel has a place of honor at our house - did I mention the world travelling? And Paula was not above a good post-Oscars gown critique session. She was so devoted to her family, and I am so sorry for your loss. She will be deeply missed.

Mr. Jenkins and Susan. Words can't express how deeply sorry I am for our loss of Paula. She was a true friend and I shall miss being able to reach out to her via email or phone. I'm so glad we were able to see each other during the reunion and catch up. She's been on my mind so much lately; now I know why. Please let me know when you decide about a celebration of life. My thoughts go out to you and all of your family.

From all of us at Spay and Neuter Kansas City, we are so sorry for the loss of such a wonderful person. Paula's kindness and her love for animals were always clear, and her dedication to helping them as a Surgical Operative Support and Dog Training Supervisor volunteer was just excellent. We're all so glad we had the opportunity to know her. She will be so very missed by us all.

My heart is heavy with this news. I knew Paula through her friend Darren Sextro, and am just shocked as she was, as you say, a light. I send my deepest sympathies to her family and friends.

This is a beautifully crafted remembrance, one that would have made our literary Paula proud. Paula was a true gift to all of us, one of the finest people Ive known. And while I know we should be happy that we had the (too brief) time with her, I will still miss her unique laugh, gossip with her about the Royal family, Academy Award predicting, squirrel horror stories, and novel recommendations. My heartfelt condolences to Paulas family. She spoke constantly about you with the most tremendous affection.

My condolences on Paula's passing. We worked together at American Century in the 90's. Paula was an outstanding co-worker and friend. Enjoyed hearing about her travels. We will miss her smile, positive outlook and love of learning.
