Rea Brown Obituary

Rea Elizabeth Marquart Brown, age 98, died March 18, 2008 at the Forum in Overland Park, Kansas. Rea was born in Chicago, Illinois on January 12, 1910, the daughter of Edna Rea and Arthur A. Marquart. She graduated from Illinois Wesleyan University, Bloomington, Illinois in 1931 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in music. She was in Who's Who in American Colleges and Universities, a member of Phi Kappa Phi and Alpha Gamma Delta. Mrs. Brown married Wallace E. Brown on July 15, 1933, in Oak Park, Illinois. She was a secretary in the Holmes and Richardson schools in Kansas City School District before her retirement in 1970. Mrs. Brown was a member of Country Club Christian Church, formerly active in youth work; the Christian Women's Fellowship and served as a Deacon and Elder. She was predeceased by sisters, Blanche Simon of Michigan and Dorothy Corey of Florida. She is survived by her daughter, Carol B. Nichols, husband George, and L. Wallace Brown, wife Barbara, four grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be held on Saturday, March 29 at 1:00 p.m. at Country Club Christian Church, 6101 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, Missouri. The family wishes to express their thanks to Kansas City Hospice and are grateful for the loving care given "Rea Rea" by the Forum staff. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be given to the Outreach or Music funds of Country Club Christian Church, Kansas City, Missouri.
