OMEGA PSI PHI FRATERNITY, INCORPORATED
OMICRON XI CHAPTER
September 18, 2004
To the family and friends of Brother Richard (Buzzy) Singleton.
As we share your personal loss, what a joy we can share as we acknowledge the Word of the Lord.
And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Today is a day of faith and not a day of reason for God has chosen to pluck one of his shining stars. Today, our eyes are clouded by our tears instead of being cleansed by them.
We, the men of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Omicron Xi Chapter, are deeply saddened by the death of Buzzy. Words are totally inadequate to express our feelings, but please know that our thoughts and prayers are with you.
On behalf of Omega Psi Phi, I extend our sincerest sympathy, trusting that remembrance by so many friends will bring you comfort. May God bless you and keep you in his care.
Sincerely,
Rev. Brother Larry E. King, Sr., Chaplain

My condolences to Buzzy's family. May God give you strength to endure the pain of greiving. The only thing we can be sure of is God is in control of our destiny and Loves us dearly. Buzzy was a friend in deed and Loved being a "Q". I can remember great times at CMSU with Buzzy and the gang. Even though we were apart in distance we still were together as brothers in spirit.
Friendship is Essential to the Soul. As a "Q" Buzzy lived the 4 principals of Manhood, Scholarship, Perseverance and UPlift. So When We Say Our Last Goodbye, people will know that we have Lived from the Lives we touched!!
Goodbye my Brother and may God let you rest in his Arms of Love!

Buzzy was an outstanding black man, friend, fraternity brother, and father.
To this day I frequently listen to Isaac Hayes's "JOY", for it was in Buzzy's basement in Kansas City that I first heard it. Buzzy loved his music and always had a bomb system to share the music with his friends.
Through the years I was always confident that when I was conducting business with Buzzy, I knew I was in good hands.
I will miss him dearly and fraternally.

Our legacy is not what we have done, but what those we leave behind remember that we have done. You left wonderful children who will continue to be your gift to the world. Rest in the glory of God.

For Buzzy
When our lives became entwined,
I was just learning my name.
We grew up next to each other
Playing silly, childish games.
Behaving just like siblings
(Though born of different folks)
You teased me like a sister,
I laughed at your bad jokes.
Then life sped up around us,
So many things to learn !
To chase the dreams we cherish
To leave no stone unturned.
Those years of drive-in movies,
Parties and swimming meets,
Riding in your Chevy,
With the “tucked and rolled” car seats
Are now the sweetest memories
Of you who made me proud
To call you neighbor/brother
With head held high, unbowed.
So Richard, known as “Buzzy”
I guess your time here’s thru,
And Norma, known as “Chunki”,
Knows God is holding you.
Rest easy, my friend.
Uncle Richard and Aunt Francis, thank you for being a lantern for our paths. I will love you through the Rapture and a million years beyond. You are in my prayers always.

Buzzy and I lived near each other in Kansas City, Mo. We entered 8th grade together, graduated from Paseo High School and CMSU. He was my husband's fraternity brother, roomate and groomsman in our wedding. Buzzy even ended up moving to St. Louis where we live. We were definitely life long friends.
Buzzy we loved you like a brother, but the Lord loved you more. We will truly miss you.

I have known Buzzy all my life. He was and always will be part of the Masterson Family. I was shocked and saddened to hear about his passing. We, (Buzzy, Norma,(my sister) and I) went through a lot together in our younger years, but he has always been in our hearts and minds. We will miss him greatly, but are assured that he is in a far better place. May God Bless Uncle Richard and Aunt Francis, I love you both as I know the both of you love me. My thoughts and prayers are the both of you.

I am truly sorry for the loss of Buzzy. I never called him Richard, because 36 years ago when I met him, the only name anybody called him was Buzzy. He was a fun person to know and I am happy to know he apparently had a wonderful career as an attorney. May God bless his family.
