ROBERT LAIRD Obituary

Bob went to heaven March 3rd, 2011 while surrounded by his family after fighting a valiant battle against cancer. He was born January 7, 1952 in Raytown, Mo, where he attended Raytown High School. Bob graduated from the University of Missouri with dual degrees in Business and Political Science. Bob spent the majority of his career employed by Sprint, and most recently was working at West Corporation in Omaha, Nebraska. Bob loved the Lord and lived life to the fullest. His infectious smile and positive attitude influenced all who met him. His love of the outdoors, mountains, and national parks were the root of his passion with dendrology. Bob is survived by his wife of 36 years, Jan, whom he met while in Columbia at the University of Missouri. His children, Hillary and Graham, meant the world to him; both currently reside in Denver, Colorado. He is also survived by siblings Ed, Bill, David, and Patty Laird, all of Kansas City. There will be a memorial service for family and friends to celebrate Bob's life on Sunday, March 6th, 2011 at 3pm. The service will be held in the atrium at First Baptist Church, Raytown: 105009 East 350 Highway, Raytown MO 64138. Memorial contributions in Bob's name may be made to either the First Baptist Church of Raytown or the American Cancer Society. Condolences may be left for the family at www.muehlebachchapel.com. Jan, Hilary, and Graham,

I'm so sorry to hear about Bob's passing. I worked for Bob in the late 90's and was always impressed with his zeal for life and love for his God and family!

I will always remember him as a courageous fighter!

I will always remember Bob, and I have not seen him since 2001. He was a very inspiring man, and taught me a great deal about business and life. As we begin the season of Lent this week, I will continue to pray that Bob is in the loving care of Jesus, and that Jan, Hilary, and Graham continue to receive love and comfort from our Lord. Peace and love be with you.

Dear Jan, Hilary and Graham,
Please accept my deepest sympathies on the passing of Bob.
He was one of the warmest and most courageous people I knew. I know he had great faith and I do believe the Good Lord gave him extra years, though not enough, in return for his faith and his courage as he faced his medical challenges. He always found the strength to find humor in adversity and courage when he needed it most.
When Bob spoke of Hilary and Graham, the love and devotion symbolized the wonderful person he was and will be for eternity. A loving father and husband, he was in life the example most of us yearn to be. His memory will endure forever.
Bob was a shining star in life and our world is a sadder place now that he has left the earth. However, this fallen star will forever light the world and memory of those he touched.

We received a call from Ann yesterday. We are so very sorry to hear about Bob. He certainly fought a brave fight for many years and we were all blessed with his positive attitude and love of life! Heather and Lindsay both send their condolences to you all. We will never forget "Biker Bob".

Dear Laird Family,

Bob was a great Friend/Customer of mine for many years. I always respected Bob and he always brightened up the room when then conversation turned from business to Family.

Your Family will be in our prayers tomorrow at Mass. I am very sorry for your loss.

Jan, Hillary and Graham,

I was so sorry to read of Bob's passing. I had Graham in the nursery at First Baptist in the old building when he was just a toddler. I also got to enjoy hearing Hillary play in church. You will all be in my prayers in the days to come and know that God will wrap His arms around you and meet each need of your heart.
