Ronald Davis Obituary

DAVIS "Captain Ron", Ronald Albaugh Davis, grew up in Overland Park, Kan. The son of John and Suzanne Davis, he has one surviving brother, Doug, who lives in Boise, Idaho. He attended Cherokee Elementary, Broadmoar Junior High, Shawnee Mission West and South High Schools before entering The University of Kansas pursuing a major in journalism. Photography was one of his passions. Later he completed his degree at the University of Minnesota. While at KU, Ron founded Pyramid Pizza in Lawrence, Kan. After 35 years it's still there. He was an exceptional athlete in many sports and had a special love for springboard diving. Later, Ron became the Blue Hills Country Club diving team coach and instructor, continuing that winning spirit with a league championship. He loved skiing, and would take on any challenge with reckless abandon on the slopes. He loved to sail and dreamed of spending his life on a 70' racer cruiser yacht.  He will be held dear as an exalted friend and convivial soul, known for his caring of others, vibrant charisma, and affection toward adventure. He wend one's way with an unique spirit of kindness, and was loyal to his vast circle of friends. Further, he walked life's road with an unexampled spirit. Many might attest that his friendship was a bond for life. A celebration of life is planned for Sunday, September 21, beginning at 5 p.m. at the American Legion at 7500 W. 75th St., in Overland Park, Kan. His brother Doug invites all who have known Ron to attend, perhaps share a story and remember with us this special person in our lives. Please know that Ron will be there in spirit.

Ron and I shared some very good and happy times during his last three years in this area. There was never a dull moment when he was around. I have fond memories of sitting at the kitchen table with him in the evenings watching his favorite, Charlie Gibson, on ABC's World News Tonight...I miss him a lot!

Ron, let me echo what Cyndy said about our condolences to you, and about the good memories of Ron and your entire family. Yes, I recall his smile well, just as I do your Dad's.

Doug,
I am so sorry to hear about Ron. I remember him always smiling. Your family and the Andersons shared many family dinners, fun times at the pool, and even a few vacations. All good times. We'll be thinking of you.
