Sharon Mendlick Obituary

Sharon Mendlick
September 22, 1944 - January 25, 2021
Phoenix, Arizona - Sharon Mendlick (Stalcup), formerly of Olathe, KS and more recently sharing time between Omaha, NE and Scottsdale, AZ, was born September 22, 1944. She passed away unexpectedly on January 25, 2021. This was a tragic loss to family and friends. Sharon was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. We are proud to say that Sharon leaves a legacy as a positive force for all whom had the pleasure of knowing her. Her death leaves a huge void that can not be filled. We will do our best to live as she did, smile and know that life is good. Sharon was a member and past-president of the University of Nebraska Medical Center Faculty Women's Club, Friendship Force of Greater Omaha and several book clubs, sewing and knitting groups. She was an avid participant in water aerobics, walking and Mahjong. Sharon will be missed by her husband of 54 years, Michael, daughters Amy (Jason), Marcia (Dan) and son Matthew (Katie and grandchildren Lauren, Ryan and Mia), brother W.M. (Janice), sister Mary Ann and by extended family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to UNMC FWC (Student Scholarships), https://nufoundation.org/unmcfwc; Head for the Cure Foundation, headforthecure.org, Humane Society of Nebraska, nehumanesociety.org. No formal service planned at this time due to COVID 19. See John A. Gentleman website.

Mike, We have been trying to track you and Sharon down. You and she were some of our early Air Force friends. We enjoyed San Antonio with our diverse gang! We are shocked and devastated to see this about Sharon's passing. We loved her (and Cesar). Please let us know how to reach you.

Mike:
It was good to see you last summer at our class reunion picnic. During previous reunions we got to know Sharon and she was always upbeat and special to visit with. May God bless you and we hope to see you at our 60th reunion in September.

I was just looking for information to fill out the CTE form for Boston University and was looking up Mike's info...
I am SO sorry to see you lost Sharon! She was always the sweetest gal and missed her when you moved north. Bless you all. Ask her to keep an eye on Scott for me since she is with him. Breaks my heart for both of our losses. Hugs to you all and you will be in my prayers. Always, Phyl

Mike and family, we are so sorry for your loss of Sharon. One cannot hope to understand why such a warm, friendly and supportive person is taken so prematurely. We only know your individual strength and support of family and friends, and the wonderful memories of life with Sharon will sustain you in going forward without her. We offer our support and prayers. We love her and miss her so much.

I met Sharon at Water Aerobics in Omaha. She recognized a new person in the group and introduced herself and I felt SO welcome. As I read the comments about her now I understand she was wonderfully gifted with love to share with family, friends, and strangers. Mike, Jim and I enjoyed sharing time, food, thoughts and ideas with you both. Being neighbors was a gift, looking forward to sharing time with you Mike. Knowing Sharon was so pleasurable, such a wonderful and happy lady, easy to be with. She is missed by many, glad we had the privilege of knowing her.

We are so grateful that we came to visit you in December of 2019, Mike. My son, John, says he remembers Sharon who smiled with her eyes and had the cool Great Danes across our backyard fence in Oak Park. Thanks for sharing her with us, Mike. A light has gone out in the world. She was an exceptional person.

Mike:
I was saddened to learn of the loss of Sharon. I lost my Bobbi almost four years ago so I know what you are enduring. Stay close to your family and friends and keep busy. Think about all of the pleasant memories and good times the two of you shred.

Sharon volunteered in my classroom helping my kids learn how to knit! Of the 60 kids I taught that year, 50 6th graders were knitting baby hats for the NICU at Children“s Hospital. She always came to my class so positive and always smiling! I loved having her come in! She was such an inspiration to me! I am so happy that I met her! She will be truly missed!

My thoughts and prayers are with the Mendlick Family. I always enjoyed Sharon and her boundless energy and love of family. Both Sharon and Mike were a true team. I was involved working with Sharon and Mike with their home searches over the years. Sharon always put a smile on the face of everyone she came in contact with and had a kind and caring way about her that was noticed by all.
It was a blessing knowing her.
