SHERRILL MARVIN MINTER

Sherrill M. Minter, 88, passed away December 19, 2011 at the Cameron Veteran's Home. A celebration of life will be Friday, December 23rd at 2:00 pm at D.W. Newcomer's Sons White Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Crossroads Hospice, 2900 NE 60th Street, Ste 150, Gladstone, MO 64119 or the Shriner's Children's Hospital, 2900 Rocky Point Dr., Tampa, FL 33607. Sherrill was born February 26, 1923 in North Kansas City. He attended North Kansas City High School and went on to graduate from Cameron High School. In 1943, he married the love of his life, Doris. Shortly after he was married, he went on to serve in the military during WWII until 1946. After serving his country he went to play baseball for the Kansas City Blues; the Yankee farm team, eventually buying his Ford dealership. He owned Sherrill Minter Ford for 37 years. Sherrill served as President for the Chamber of Commerce in Kansas City, Kansas and as a member of the Brotherhood State Bank Board. He was a Potentate's Aide in the Ararat Shrine and loved playing golf with the Shriner's Sand Blasters. He was excited at age 74 that he shot a 74 on the course! After retirement, Sherrill worked as a Broker for Coldwell Banker. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doris; son, Dennis and siblings, Birthanna Minter and Elfie Ainsworth. He is survived by his daughters, Sherry (Ed) Lawson and Terry (Jim) Brady; grandchildren, Joshua Best, Austin Minter, Corey Minter, Raelynn Minter, Jesse Brady, Sean Brady and Patrick Brady; 4 great grandchildren; brother, L.L.
