Dear Adrienne & family,
Your dad was a common fixture in my home when I was growing up as he was a good friend of my brother, John Walton. They shared many good times at Olathe High School. We shared many meals with him and shared a love of music. We listened to his early guitar playing ;-) and I can remember going to Starlight Theatre with him to see musicals where his dad was playing in the orchestra pit. The last time I saw him was last year at my brother's memorial service. My mother, Alletta Walton Keenan, and I send our sympathy to you. Your dad will always have a special place in our family's heart.
Lovingly,

Mary Bautista

Adrienne and Greg and family,
My condolences on the loss of Professor Shopmaker. He was my Spanish teacher many years ago at KCKCC. He was a fun teacher and liked to play his guitar. I remember Gordon Lightfoot was one of his favorite people at that time. We spoke many times about his childhood, as I also had the priviledge to know his father, Mr. Leopold Shopmaker, the famous and very demanding of respect director. I played violin. (Side note: my mother had Professor Shopmaker's father for a private tutor for violin) We used to laugh about how he drove his father crazy with his wild rock and roll music. (which really wasn't that wild as compard to today's music) Professor Shopmaker was an excellent teacher and thanks to him, I am now fluent in Spanish, he gave me a great foundation to build on. My prayers are for you and your family. A former student,
Mary Bautista

Adrienne, my condolences to you and your family on the loss of your father. I was an old friend of your dad in high school. We ran on the same cross country team and spent a lot time together, just hanging out. After high school we kind went our separate ways and only occasionally saw each other. We shared an interest in sports, sports teams and bluegrass music. While I never knew you, I knew about you, Stan would talk of you each time we got together. He was also close to my family and often visited them when he was back in Olathe. I won’t be able to make it back to Olathe for the memorial service but my thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family.

I was saddened to hear of the passing of Professor Shopmaker. My deepest sympathies go out to you. Professor Shopmaker was my Spanish instructor at KCKCC and I made it through Spanish 5 thanks to him. My final semester was my best friend and myself and we would sit and converse with Professor Shopmaker for each of our classes. He was the best and will be sorely missed by all of his former students. Adios, Professor Shopmaker.
