HARRY SHOPMAKER Harry Shopmaker, 96, of Prairie Village, KS passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, February 16, 2018. Services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, February 20, 2018 at The Louis Memorial Chapel, 6830 Troost Ave, Kansas City, MO 64131. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions to Jewish Vocational Services or Kansas City Hospice. Harry was born September 13, 1921 in Kansas City, Kansas to the late Louis and Mary Shopmaker. He served overseas in WWII as a Master Sgt. in the Air Force. Upon returning from service, Harry started Danny and Debbie Dare Children's Wear, a children's clothing manufacturing company. Harry was a proud member and past president of the Young President's Organization. He was a loving and generous husband, father, grandfather, uncle and a devoted friend. All who knew him fell in love with his wonderful personality and charm. His hobbies included horses and gardening and he took great pleasure in summer family vacations in La Jolla. In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by his siblings: Joseph, Frances and Jenny. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janice; 3 children: Lisa (John) Raich, Michael Shopmaker, Cathy (Neil) Newman; 10 grandchildren: Adam, Noah and Rachel Compo, Alex and Ryan Raich, David, Zoey and Annie Shopmaker and Emily and Ethan Newman as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
